This is actually hoping to be more of a thread in regard to extraction technique and theory as a whole. I took a chemistry class but I've learned so much I feel as if I have so much to learn

From brugmansia proceeding teccomended from various places online were methanol and acetone extractions. Mentioned was chlorophyll. I really hate to not expound as to the nature of my question thoroughly but if my phone does I'll pick up in the comments below as my questions are somewhat universal in scope

So let's see. First off I'm thinking an acid base extraction would be much more desirable. may I presuppose that this method works by interacting with the amino groups? Sure, but then I have two more questions I would like to understand better: first, wherein the cellular material are these alkaloids found? I studied cellular biology, drank, forgot it, I have my book right here, I'll study it again, but what am I looking for? Furthermore, so am I to assume that basic other plant materials, sugar, DNA, apparently not chlorophyll, are unbound to polymers? That sugars are found as starches and that's why we don't find them in extractions? Sending for now.

Live plants. Sustainable, ethically sourced, native American owned.

Right so my question was in regards to extraction techniques why don't we see a lot more "junk"? And then perhaps I suggest that it's because the majority of cellular compounds are polymerized

Questions about plants containing so-called belladonna alkaloïds pop up every once in a while here.

I suppose you already know this, but you'll have to excuse me for warning you anyway, considering there's always a chance you didn't know, but using these plants for recreational purposes/to get hallucinations is incredibly dangerous and very much disrecommended.

This may come off as a bit of an overly cautious knee-jerk response, but the fact is that people sometimes just falsely assume that these plants can be safely used recreationally.

So having gone through all of this, what are your intentions with these plants?

There is a thread about datura safety:datura safety

Sounds like it would be worth reading the DMT Extraction Overview and substituting the instances of "DMT" with "scopolamine". Scopolamine and atropine are esters though, so overly strong acids and bases will cause hydrolysis. This makes an A/B tropane ester alkaloid extraction more likely to fail completely.

Pure alkaloidal extracts of Brugmansia have the potential to be lethal so I strongly suggest you keep this research theoretical. However, a crude resin extract would be considerably safer to handle than purified alkaloidal powder.

An important take-home point from the brugmansia safety thread that dragonrider linked to is that tropane alkaloids have a cumulative toxicity. This meaning that repeated administration of what may seem like safe doses will still have the potential for dangerous consequences.

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

Except very specific reasons or scientific curiosity, there is no real need for extraction of tropanes alkaloids. They are really very potent, to use just dry plant material is fine for dosing.
In extracted form, it would be quite impractical to handle it safely.
