SWIM only tried it a few times, but it seemed to work great.

Usually the seltzer pulls result in a very hard crystal that often flakes off and gets tons of dust into the air when scraping. Occasionally, however, the result is somewhat like the brown/tan/black goopy acetate resin. When SWIM obtained this resin, he just threw it into a small volume of 91% IPA, heated it up until it mostly dissolved, and put it into the freezer.

Then next day a fine white layer of sediment was obtained by careful decanting, and dissolving in water. The small amount of water was evaporated yielding pretty pure looking mescaline.

This was bioassayed and the results were quite pleasing, though SWIM was never too bothered by the 'sedating alkaloid' present in cactus extracts.

That is the cleaning step, if needed.

This is pretty much a finished addendum to the non toxic tek. It has worked several times for SWIM, and he feels that it would work for anyone who carefully follows the steps outlined.

SWIM will make a pictorial of this method next time he tries it, just to give you guys an idea of the stuff he ends up with (pure white mescaline, using all food-safe materials).

The trick may be in the extreme shaking under pressure. This is why SWIM suggests a limonene tested soda bottle, to hold the pressure. It also may be necessary - in order to attain pure mescaline - to ONLY do seltzer pulls, and no vinegar pulls. This will make it more likely to come out clean, dry, and white - and if not, it can be cleaned with IPA (which 69ron mentions mescaline acetate to be soluble in). If one wants an alkaloid mix, of course, it is wise to do many kinds of saltings.

Now the wait for SWIM to get around to getting some more cactus....

Interesting information!

Do you know whether doing only carbonate pulls would work? I thought I remembered someone in the thread saying they had to pull with vinegar first.

Any estimates on what % yield carbonate one could expect after 'exhausting' the limonene with vinegar?

Fumarates can be troublesome in this way as well, SWIM simply adds a bit of water to prevent the particles from flying and floating about, scrapes the salts to the middle of the dish, and then dry further. SWIM had those problems with the carbonate as well, but he hadn't developed this method at the time.

SWIM will definitely give the IPA wash a go.

Perhaps that was SWIM, but there weren't enough controlled trials to determine this for sure. SWIM believes as Plaincoil does that keeping the mixture under pressure (IPA or hydrogen peroxide bottles seem to work quite well) is the determining factor for success in this manner of salting.

SWIM also believes that the carbonate is just as heat-sensitive as acetate, so keep evaps around 100F, no more than 115F perhaps.

Try to get 99% IPA. You know some carbonate will get dissolved in the 9% of water in the IPA...

SWIM made some 99% (or close to...) by throwing shit loads of anhydrous mgso4 in the bottle, then filtering.

SWIM pours 90% through THP with anhydrous MgSO4.
