I'm by no means an expert but I had a similar thing happen to me this week, except I used lye as a base.
I ended up makeing a little bit of higly concentrated lye and water and added it to my gel locked bottle then shook it up, and it started seperating pretty nicely, still a tiny emulsion layer (probably lipids from when the pH dipped too low- the xylene/solvent then is basicaly a defat, as far as I think), but 95 of the xylene gets through it pretty fast. As opposed to doing nothing for two days before I base bombed it.
Maybe one of the clever people can say if it will suit your solvent etc...
