I just wanted to share a testament about the amazing power of this herb...

I had tried it once and found it interesting for exploring CEV/lucid dream states, but it's not something I ever continued to explore, because of the contraindications with Aya. It did feel *AMAZING,* and in a small dose (4g indo), I never experienced hangover, withdrawl, nausea, etc.

Anyway, I went out on a date last night. First date. Got to the guy's house, I just had to make it across the sidewalk and up a few steps to the front door. It was cold and snowing. A huge blast of wind came, I slipped on the ice on the sidewalk, and nearly twisted my ankle off. I fractured one of my metatarsals (but originally just thought it was sprained). I basically crawled up the stairs... "Hi, I'm here!" Razz

I couldn't sleep that night, and the pain got worse, until around 6am, no matter how I placed my foot on the bed, it was SHOOTING and throbbing. I hauled my body to the main room of the house and managed to just lie on the couch and wait for my roommates to wake up. I was crying, howling, praying, swearing, I thought I was going to go insane, because there were no waves and the pain wouldn't stop.

My roommate finally came down, and I begged her to throw a banana and water into the blender so I could mix in some Kratom (just another 4g, nothing crazy).

The pain DISAPPEARED after 5-10 minutes!! That was roughly 16 hours ago, and I am still pain-free.

I have an appointment for a cast tomorrow. Woooo hoo. -.-

But, I had to take some codeine once for my wisdom teeth, and it was a terrible drug. I was addicted, turned into a grouchy person, couldn't get out of bed, or go to the bathroom for a week. I felt AWFUL and had to keep popping them all the time!! Kratom has none of these side effects, it is so smooth, long-lasting, I feel light and clear.

I just felt compelled to share the amazing pain-relief properties of this plant, if you ever happen to find yourself in a stupid situation such as the one described above. Smile Ibuprofen would not have helped me, and after my horrendous experiences with codeine, there's no way I would ever touch Tylenol 3s or anything of the sort again.

Kratom is amazing, but can be addictive, be careful.

SWIM has never got anything but subtle sedation on anything up to and including 4g of standardized 54% extract. Then again SWIM gets only nausea and headaches from opiates.

But SWIM's typical response is
Con: he'll never know what an opiate is supposed to feel like
PRO: HE'LL NEVER BE ADDICTED TO HEROIN!

Alas SWIM congratulates you on a journey he will never know! Razz

I am almost never on this site anymore so I will likely not answer PMs

Kratom is amazing.

However, there is a lot of weak/bunk Kratom out there.

Kratom IS useful for minor pain, but don't expect much more than a solid dose of codein or darvocet. It can be slightly more euphoric though.

It is AMAZING for those trying to break an opiate addiction. I was able to quit using poppy pods (after a long IV stint) by lowering my intake and then switching to Kratom (for about 2 weeks then a slow 1 week taper off of the kratom), valium (only for the first 4 days), immodium (daily), and benadryl (boosted the kratom without boosting addiction, kept histamine reactions under control).

Kratom IS addictive, so don't use daily unless you don't mind a small monkey. Kratom IS easy to get off of...kratom extracts are significantly harder. I think that plain Bali leaf is the best way to go. Extracts will build up your tolerance to kratom within a few days...and with it addiction follows quickly.

Abuse of Kratom leaf is difficult. It seems to have a built in limit. After a certian amount of kratom things get unpleasant and dysphoric. It's damn near impossible to die from a kratom OD. The leaf itself has alkaloids that act as a partial opiod antagonist, blocking some of the effects at high doses.

Yes, I have read some intense Kratom addiction stories, but some people take over 50g/day. Shocked

I've read a lot about people using it to break other addictions, too, which is amazing. Smile

I only needed it just that morning, 4g and I was great for the day. I'm just so grateful that I had some when I legitimately needed it, because the side effects I've experienced from codeine were horrible, including addiction/withdrawl. It is an amazing substitute for opiates, in the case of acute personal injury.

It felt interesting the first few times I tried it. I even thought to myself to be careful. But it somehow lost it's attraction. The reason: It somehow messes with my emotions...in a way i don't quite enjoy. It seems to damp them to a degree where I can't feel sadness no more. It's all fluffy..no deeper emotions possible.

Kratom is amazing but quality vary a lot.
I did not have the opportunity to test it's effect on pain but it will increase a headache and slightly decrease a stomach ache. I guess it depends on the kind of pain.
I tried several ones, and they all have subtil differences. The stronger beeing the Maeng Da, but two different Maeng Da from different vendors leads anyway to different effects.
I ordered from a french vendor and it required only 2g to be nice but it was more sedative than other kratoms (it smells undoubtly different also).
Last day I took 3 g of another Maeng Da (KT source) thinking that it should be nice... but I was wrong and effects were uncomfortable and my anxiety level rised, while 3.5-4 g of another kratom (indo) is fully energetic and pleasant.
I did not see real potency differences between bali, thai or indo. For the price, premium indo, if your vendor is consistent and serious, is the best.
When you get used to it, Kratom is a stimulant and will prevent deep sleeping. But it's very nice to take it before a good working session.
Kratom seriously decrease my libido however, I wonder if it's just me and what other people think about it's interaction with sexual arousal level.

Because there are so many active alkaloids in Kratom different strains have very different effects.

Traditionally Thai, Maeng Da (a substrain of Thai), and most extracts are very stimulating, and easily get unpleasant at high doses. When I was sampling the different strains I usually had to take a benzo when dosing on Thai, anxiety and jitters were common.

Bali/Indo/Malaysian(unpredictable): usually are a bit more sedate (esp Bali) and don't have that overstimulation that Thai usually gives.

As far as pain killing abilities, I'm not sure I can tell a difference in potency between the strains, but because Bali was the most efficient at killing the W/d's of my oral morphine addiction I will put out a guess that (good quality) Bali or Indo kratom has the best pain killing effects.

Because Kratom works on the opiate receptors it WILL reduce libio in many people (not all but many).

In my opinion Kratom is a much better alternative to codiene or darvocet. It cannot replace stronger opiates like hydrocodone, oxycodone, hydromorphone etc.. but for minor pain, Kratom works great, especially on people w/o a tolerence to opiates.

Hmmmm, I think I'm going to have to get some of this to keep around for my family and myself. In case any one of us has an accident similar in circumstance to yours manic minxx. Hope you heal quickly.

My body and brain despise classic opiates. Brain warbling, aural swishy swashy, ughhhhhhh....dry constipation. Waves of euphoric inspiration only resulting in impotent or half-assed execution, because my brain can't function and limbs can't function properly. Trouble pissing. Oh, and addiction.

No thank you.
