yeah... Not a happy chappy with me right now.

Its 6:20am right now and I've been waiting up to do the 1st pull and quick evap for a later on today.

Started a STB extraction about 8ish last night.. 50g MHRB. Thought I'd go a little bit nuts and shake the jar instead of stirring it for half an hour. The reason for doing so was due to me putting a full can of naphtha in the emulsion and wanting to make sure I got as much alkaloids to migrate into the solvent as possible.

All was going to plan, other than the fact that it was taking a hell of a lot of time to separate into the layers. I had marked the jar (brand spanking new one might I add) where the naphtha level was before shaking it, about an inch deep, just so I knew when it was settled enough for the 1st pull.

1am... it was only just visible at about 1mm deep.

2 - 3am... Roughly the same.

4am... It was 1cm.

5am... Getting tired of this now and its still only 1cm deep from the original inch.

6am... "Maybe a hot water bath will speed this process along a bit" says I to I.

Filled the sink with warm water and placed the jar in, popped the lid to vent and resealed. Turned to go and sit down for a bit and heard a POP... "Shit!" I knew. I looked in the sink to see the inky mixture bellowing out the bottom. I could not face it straight away and went for a smoke to chill before cleaning up.

Got to the sink and realised that the solvent must still be sitting in the top part of the jar as I hadn't lifted it all the way out of the hot water bath. Managed to pull off about 50ml of the 100ml... but still, feeling a wee bit gutted here.

Ach well... We live and learn eh? lol

thought I'd share my misfortune with you all in hopes that someone wont make the same mistake I just did.

Peace!
Donnie

Check thatm I think 007 hit the spice!!!!! It gets more spicey towards the end!

My advice is to suck up the whole emulsion/naphta layer and let that seperate again in a smaller vessel and then continue with pulls on the bottle takeing care not to shake it so badly again. I'd top it up with some basified water as your pH level wsas likely borderline allready.
