To my knowledge freebase (10.67ph+) nn-dimethyltryptamine is completely insoluble in water. That's what pushes it from the aqueous layer to the non-polar layer and facilitates simple and easy extraction. As far as using chemicals there are several 'natural Teks' that don't use anything harsh. I prefer good ol' NaoH and Naphtha VM&P for two reasons, it's cheap and easy AND I'm guaranteed a very pure product as long as I don't let soup make it to my freezedish.

You can precipitate freebase directly from acidic solution just by adding base and filtering the solids.
But the solution have to contain only minimal amount of impurities, so it does not work with acidic bark soup.

I used this approach to precipitate freebase from backsalting solution (using extraction with xylene).
Just add base to the acidic water, freebase will precipitate as white solids. It looks like crystals, but after separation, it is some waxy material, not crystals.
But definitely, freebase is not soluble in basic water.

I am not sure, I made changa out of it, but most likely it could be vaporized.
Most of the precipitate settle to the bottom, but some floats in the water. Better to filter it out and then dissolve in IPA.

Would say it's just particles size, not different molecules. Sometimes everything settles, sometimes small portion does not.
