Was kicking around with Her in the beautiful autumn leaves, around the hospital, stopped to check out some wavy capped mushrooms growing on wood (they weren't cyans). A passing motorist saw us and stopped to talk about mushrooms. He was a picker and enthusiastic enough to stop his car and talk to us. Gifted us these, I forget what he said they were, something edible that he had picked locally. We are going to fry them in butter and eat them with new york steaks. It was a cool thing that happened to me today and I thought I would share it with you. Love.

Tony: did he call them Matsutake? The tapered stem and general dingy look to them suggest that species. Do they smell strongly and different than typical ‘mushroom’ smell? Some say cinnamon and gym socks is the smell of matsutake. Also, they are commonly given as gifts in certain Asian cultures.

Yes, that's what he said they were, and spoke of them smelling of cinnamon. Good eye, thanks for jumpstarting my brainpiece. He said they were popular in Japan.
