Hey all, does anyone here have any concrete information about the impact spice has on blood pressure/heart rate and who should avoid it? Over the last year or so my BP has been on the border of normal/high (130/80 give or take) and anytime I've tried spice it seems to increase dramatically to a point where I feel like my head's gonna pop even after the experience. Ideally I should get my health in check but for in case anyone needs this information it's good to have here!
Also what impact would taking a blood pressure medicine (clonidine for instance) have on spice's increase in bp? I realize these are questions nobody can really answer but any personal experience or knowledge is always appreciated! Getting older sure has it's disadvantages but hey, still better to be safe than sorry!

I jog before smoalking always to get the bpm to 60-80, and it can fail and dmt can send it sky high, but I think its worked a lot of times. Working out is the best way to feel calm. But dmt doesnt always accelerate heart rate, some trips are like walks in gods garden Todo lo que quiero es que me recuerdes siempre así...amándote. Mantay kuna kayadidididi~~Ayahuasca shamudididi. I’m glad you asked this. My wife has high blood pressure. She takes medicine for it. I can not find much information on BP and spice or BP and ayahuasca. Would the maoi in caapi or rue combined with the 20mg ‘Lisinopril’ have bad effects?

My heart rate is always fairly slow, around 60/70, so it's not a big concern but my BP is always at least 130/80 or higher. Exercising is good advice though! I'll have to keep searching until I find exactly how high the increase in blood pressure is but it can't be any worse than the increase caused by sex or other drugs, can it?
To answer your question texas, and I'm definitely not a doctor so don't take this as fact or medical advice, but I doubt there is an interaction between lisinopril and an maoi. I couldn't find any information about clonidine and spice either but the only thing I could imagine happening is them canceling each other out in a way (blood pressure wise.) Gotta be really careful when messing with the heart though.. maybe someone more knowledgeable will be able to give you a more definite answer

Strassman reported an increase in mean arterial pressure of about 18mmHg after injecting 0.4mg per kg into his subjects. There was a sharp decrease from peak to the 15 min mark, then a return to baseline by 60 min. The article is Arch Gen Psychiatry. 1994;51:85-97.
There is nothing wrong with your blood pressure, as you report it.
In summary, you have as much chance of blowing a gasket while smoking dmt, as the next healthy subject.
If you have some other pre-existing condition that you have not mentioned, such as aneurysms, then the advice would be different.
Hope that helps.

Hope that helps. Thanks for the info! That is a pretty significant increase but not all that surprising. As far as I know I have no aneurysms but I guess you really never know! I wonder if vaping it would create a similar increase or maybe even higher due to prolonged breath holding, probably not though. Anyways, thanks for getting back to me with that, it definitely gives me some peace of mind

I tried clonidine to mitigate the catecholamine excess caused by MAOI because the excess norepeniphrine/dopamine absolutely destroys my sleep. Its half life is way too long and I felt completely zombied the next day. I only say this in response to the question raised about MAOI and clonidine. Next i want to try a beta blocker with a shorter half life because right now taking an MAOI really isn't worth the absolute destruction of all deep and REM sleep.

I seem to recall reading that beta blockers like propranolol cancel out harmala alkaloids, do you know if this effect applies to their MAO inhibition in the gut as well?
