Hey everyone, hope you're all having a splendid week. Ive been concerned with one thing and curious if any experienced trippers could share that experience? Ive been diagnosed with central sleep apnea for years (since my teens) and am curious if a breakthrough can lead to periods of reduced respiration.

Is anyone here an experienced traveler with either central or obstructive sleep apnea? Does it lead to lower (or no) respiration at higher doses? Should I avoid the spice altogether?

Worst case scenario I'll just stick to other psychs and aya, though I really feel almost some primordial hole that is left unfilled in my psyche. Oh well, thanks yall and take care

I'm not a doctor so I can only speak for myself but in my experience the only respiratory problems I've had was from 'forgetting to breathe', but nothing like a pharmacological respiratory suppression. Eventually you will either remember to breathe or recall that breathing is autonomous and all will be well as long as you don't panic. You're not likely to fall asleep during the experience. One tip from Terrence McKenna, silly as it may sound at the moment, is to sing... which will help with respiration and with panic.

Thanks for the reply twitchy! Compared to my long history of pharmaceutical narcotics it's probably nothing to worry about. Thankfully that's all in the past.. but I guess you never know. I saw a video of a lady who smoked 5-meo and was turning purple/screaming/etc but have never read of any issues with nn.

Everything is going to be okay, thanks again twitchy

Hi Gary, mind that people without apnea can have easily the experience of not breathing and starting to worry about not needing the feel to breath, until the realization to start breathing just to be sure. It feels like you don't seem the need to breath while the feeling of suffocating is absent.

Supposedly this is due a changed time awareness. Normally there is a link between your usual breathing pace and the pace of time. When that pace of time awareness shifts there seems to be something odd with the breathing pace. AFAIK nobody died by suffocating due not breathing on spice.
I can imagine someone having apnea and having same effects on spice might become extra concerned, but know there's something general going on, it's not always like that but can easily happen.

On 5meo there are mentioning of people stopping their breathing as noticed by the sitters, so there it can be effectively real and they need a little of trigger by the sitter to start breathing again. But I've no 5meo experiences myself.
