After reading about THP, I wanted to see if the same concept worked with using a coffee maker as the concepts seem similar. I saw discussion about possibly using a french press but I think that is actually a decoction instead of a percolation.
Here's what I did:
I measured 15 grams of powdered caapi vine and put it in a pre-wet coffee filter in my Moccamaster. The reservoir capacity is about 1.26 liters.
I ran about 3 reservoirs worth of water through the caapi powder. I didn't run it until clear as it was getting late but the color of the water lightened significantly by the third run.
I reduced the liquid till it fit into a coffee mug. The smell was woody and indolic and the taste was like Pu'Erh tea, not unpleasant at all.
Drank it over the course of about 15 minutes. I definitely felt kind of woozy and "intoxicated" but nothing too intense. I laid down in bed and listened to music and felt a very warm, relaxed feeling, although because of the small dose, nothing visionary. I do think it's a good amount for something like a changa session but I'll have to try that another day.
Either way, I'd like to try running 50 grams through it and see if I can start entering a little further into the caapi realm (this is my first go round with caapi). Will report back when I do that but suffice to say, I think this idea is viable. My ultimate goal is to nail down a good dose of this tea, and then melt some spice fumarate into it to light it up.
The only reason I think it's different than THP is because maybe there is less pressure for the water to flow through because there isn't as much in the filter cone at a time.
