Just wanted to make myself a heated magnetic stirrer.
Looked at Chinese 79-1 stirrer, but waiting is too long and my hands were itching.
Had a bunch of junk lying around so I used it to build one. ALuminum plate 8.5 x 7 x 1/4 in.
A bunch of 10 Ohm 25Watt power resistor in series, total wattage 127Watt, uses 1 amp, connected directly to mains.
Old laptop charger 19V (real output 16.7V) for the dc brushed motor. A $5 pwm speed controller 3A 24V max, neodymium magnet, some wiring. There was a pulley on the motor, cut 3/4 of it and it left a base, ca glued the magnet on it.
Gives me about 160F / 75C in the solution, while the hot plate maxes out at 275F / 135C. No heat controls atm, imho the max temp is acceptable for the task.

Old regulator housing.

Wow ... great!

Better you built one your own, that chinese stuff is only strong enough to mix a liquid and no liquids with bark in it ... And the heat is a joke I heard.

Nice one, maybe at some point if others want to see the process to make one you could make a tutorial with step by step ;D

There are cheap stirred heaters, but they will often be like 20 years old and then they often have some issues regarding even stirring and stuff ... Crying or very sad that's at least what I start to experience.

After using the heated stirrer for a while I have decided that some temperature controls would be very nice to have and to that effect I have shopped for a cheapest digital temperature controller, the one in particular was W1209, with temp range of -50 +110C, this device uses 12V to power it up and has a relay that it controls, it can also be programmed for heating or cooling and it has some other useful adjustments.
Since I have used an old laptop power adaptor (16V output)for the stirring motor, I had to lower that voltage to 12V and used a common IC voltage regulator 7812 that reduces +16 to +12.

The included relay is rated @ 20Amps max but since my heating element consumes about 1A its enough for it.
The mounting of the pcb required some more holes to be made, added some wiring and the result was pretty decent.
I can use the thermocouple (temp sensor) either on the aluminum plate itself or dip it in the liquid to be heated.

ToDo: A vertical rod for mounting amenities.
