Hi there!

I am new to this forum and am impressed with all the information available here. However, I do find the search function difficult to use because each time you click on a past post, and it is difficult to return back to your original search results.

I first became interested in psychedelics after reading Michael Pollan's book, How to Change Your Mind. I am amazed at all the positive research studies which have been done in testing how psychedelics can help people with PSTD, anxiety, OCD and other issues.

I myself have OCD and mild anxiety, am taking SSRIs but would someday like to take a psychedelic like LSD or psilocybin mushrooms. If the set and setting is right, I understand that the experience can be transformative.

Because I take SSRIs, does anyone have any experience in abstaining from taking from SSRIs, before trying these classic psychedelics? My view is that I should be completely off SSRIs before trying psychedelics.

One other question, about becoming promoted to full membership, how many questions are there in the Survey? I have answered a few, but don't want to spend all day answering questions.

Thanks!

Consult your prescribing physician for assistance in coming up with a taper plan to discontinue the SSRI. Depending on the compound, the half life can be quite long, so it may take several weeks of abstinence before the substance is truly out of your system.

The questionnaire is roughly 100 questions, you don't need to be any hurry to answer them and promotion is by no means based on how many you do or do not answer, but instead on votes by the community, so focus more on posting and getting to know people.

Welcome to the Nexus. Thumbs up

Thanks for your feedback. This is useful information.

When you say "votes by the community", what does this mean?

Full members who read your posts are able to decide whether they think a new member would be suitable for promotion - or not. There is a method in place for this to happen. Moderators have the power to promote people and the view of senior members and mods carries more weight (either for or against).

Your interactions with this forum and the chatroom help determine the likelihood of your promotion.

Here's a general tip: one of the main things is simply to do a bit of research within and outside the forum before asking questions. There's a very high chance that any simple question has been answered here already, usually multiple times. Avoiding exponentially-increasing redundancy is something highly desirable on any forum where the aim is sharing meaningful, up-to-date information.

The search function is a bit difficult to use at first. I suspect that using a mobile phone for this wouldn't make it any easier. If you are using a PC or laptop, then one trick is to right-click on the link and open it in a new tab or window.

Searches can be performed via any online search-engine (e.g. duckduckgo Wink) using "site:dmt-nexus.me/forum [put your search term here]" (without the square brackets).

And... welcome to the Nexus!

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

As a general rule, I think it is wise to only take psychedelics when you're mentally stable, calm and happy.

Whenever there's a lot of stress going on in your life, when you feel insecure or anxious, or maybe you have relationship problems, these are emotions can be amplified a hundred times during a psychedelic trip. As you can imagine, amplifying your anxiety with a hundred will cause you to have a bad time.

This isn't necessarily the case, of course. You could have a bad mood and maybe still have a nice and even constructive trip.

Still, because there is a risk when taking psychedelics, it's best to take proper precautions to minimize those risks. For you, the best way to minimize the risk would be to complete your therapy for anxiety first. Be strict to yourself. You can always make a trip later when it's more safe and you have a greater chance of having a nice trip.

So stick with your medication, complete the therapy, and if you still feel like taking LSD or mushrooms afterwards, plan it on a beautiful day outside with a trip sitter that knows you and whom you trust.

Yes, I believe you're quite right. This seems sensible and in line with what I felt to be the right approach. Thanks for taking the time in replying back!
