Hey all. New to the forum, and I like what ya'll have going on here! Seems like a great forum of good folks.

Back to the situation at hand.

Context:

1. I will be vaping high-grade very pure spice from an E-cig cartridge mixed with PG&VG. (I've heard good things about this method on this forum too so I'm glad I chose this method!)

2. I'm an accomplished...(not to toot my horn too loud) psychonaut. I've lost track of how many trips I've had over these 7 years of partaking (30-50 trips?), and only one of them was remotely bad (it was just rather dark). The spice though, has been the one that's escaped me all this time, and once I heard what it does, I knew I wanted to see for myself.

3. The set and setting is: My sitters are my brother and my roommate whom I have close relationships with. The setting is our apartment, in a pile of pillows and blankets. Three cats will also be around.

4. I usually have no problem overcoming nightmares, as I usually quickly realize I'm dreaming and ride it out, facing the horrors head on, or wake up immediately. As of late I've only been scared due to waking up and still seeing these things for a moment, and unable to move (they were Silent Hill nurses in my bedroom by the way).

The Question:

Obviously it's possible to have bad spice breakthroughs, and as I mentioned in context #4, I've only been afraid of horrors that seem real. Well, therein lies the little bit of fear I'm having towards my first breakthrough. Seems like most people agree, the things you see while on the spice seem very real. So I'm little afraid that I'll be afraid haha.

My idea is to listen to something very relaxing but strong and beautiful as I dive into this for the first time. I've read differing opinions in the forums here and there, but most are just their current personal preferences. And those who do listen to music often report that it does influence the experience of the breakthrough.

Does anyone have any "yays" or "nays" for having music play for someone's first time? Or will I lose something from the experience by doing it that way?

The song I want to use by the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPR6i2ICCWM

Thank you for reading! Very excited to do this by the way. I have lots of positive feelings towards this event, but I am a little nervous too I guess lol. Any off-topic tips and tricks are welcomed too!

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

You sound like you have a good grip on what is to come. I have used music for the majority of my adventures, however, I utilise music that has a sense of familiarity to it. I have in the past trounced my way out of a very dark place simply because a familiar tune entered my trip. When discovering a landscape completely void of familiarity, something as simple as a nostalgic tune can make a large difference. I have yet to encounter a moment when music has 'taken away' from the experience. I have experienced intense panic when a very aggressive tune from my angst filled teenage years slipped its way into my playlist. All of this is very subjective to my preferential set and setting, as you would have a firm understanding, what works for me, may not work for you!

The geometric patterns seem to align themselves to tones, which can be nice. Its someting worth trying. It's always a good idea to have music on hand to change your setting.

Ive never tried music yet but have been enjoying the music from the other side on sub-breakthroughs. I hear electrostatic springy sounding pings, pongs, and bloops, along with the carrier note. Its has a circusy/clownyness to it and always makes me smile.

This was exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Thank you!

whats right for you is not for me , being prepared is something that i do consider to be wise and not a waste of time . not all of us are like this as then you have the aint nobody's got time for all dat crew , and the come on dont be a p word types . i have zero time or patience for either above as these types of people can not comprehend the very concept of patience for themselves . the fact that you are asking these questions at this moment says some things about you and this situation. perhaps i wont be wasting my time typing this .

if one is concerned or on the fence about these real world trappings one consider a discussing a hand signal or non verbal comm . mention to your sitter you are unsure about whatever factor , and if at any point you raise your hand to your ear this would instruct them to kill the tunage , or if one points at the lamp it would be a cue to turn the lights back on .

my pal has had a single very intense dmt experience that he states to this day scared him beyond words , it terrified him and he was left speechless for a good 30 seconds which was not fun to say the least . he did not "break thru " he did not "go to hyperspace" there where no jesters "flicking him off" what occurred for him was that he felt his reality sucked out of him as if he was dying , the set and setting was swapped out for death very quickly and part of the sheer panic was that the room was dark and the music became a creepy parody of itself , that was mocking him. at that moment he was unable to speak , seconds later , which seemed like an eternity , it was difficult for him to get the words out which were " could we uh ahm uhhh ahh , maybe ahhh , and he is flapping his hand , auum ahhh maybe turn the music off , and turn the lights back on please ? needles to say as this time passed and his sitter was able to conform to his needs enough time had passed for him to "come to" as things happen fairly quickly in this game . music on or off , is not going to matter to the spice , it does what it wants to do regardless .

at that point . with the lamp on , and the music off was when he felt as if things where more comfortable for him .

the song in question - king gizzard - beginners luck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLdI44R0RQA

the cat thing , he has a boy who they have had for maybe less than a year . he mentioned the cat "freaks out" when spice is in the air , and that very experience the lil guy came by his feet and was moving his head all around which scared my pal even more as the cat looked like a black ball with a triangle point nose . . . look into the cat thing ,its a real thing with them being aware so you may wish to have them sit the first one out till you see how it takes you .

he is an experienced person who tends to react poorly to dissociative type highs - pcp , "robo trips" , and this experience was similar to that and put him off the idea of attempting to break thru playing around with dmt .

he told me mullein saved his fate . he likes to harvest goop , mix that with acetone and soak mullein in that for lower dose shenanigans rather than risk further psycho trauma .

this is one persons experience , it is certainly not yours , there is a huge chance you will have a wonderful experience and receive everything you wish , to the soundtrack of your song / music of your choice , the small almost non existent chance is there you will not break thru and find yourself in a similar position of feeling terror may in fact be a reality . at that moment one should consider is one going too far , considering hand signals od predetermined forms of non verbal communication . that depends on you and your sitters .

utilizing premeditated hand signals to turn on the lights and kill the jams is the one thing my pal regrets not thinking thru . he also mentioned the additional hand signal would be " may i have something to drink please " as he likes to sip grapefruit juice as a palette cleanser , as burnt dmt on the back of the throat is another wildcard that is typically left out of all of the "trip reports" .

the best advice i ever came across dealing with this stuff is meditation for intent . meaning you think of exactly what you want out of this experience and meditate on this in advance so you may actually be able to summon what you desire . i have no idea if it works it sounds crazy as hell but it seems to make sense to me . if i was going to try to break thru i wouldn't be typing this i would be typing a note to my self to re read and edit later . that note would condense into a thought which i would echo when i wake and sleep and in between till the time arrives . . .

my pal suffered recurring nightmares for 10 years after a roger waters concert and a simultaneous large shroom dose . the particular concert there is a simulated nuclear attack during the show . he had end of the world/ nuke dreams for over ten years . since he has been playing around smoalking infused herbs , he has been incredible "happy" , his dream life has been stable / normal with the exception of some hyper real almost lucid stuff happening which was a first , and the main thing - he has found much more balance in his life as well . that means he has reduced his alcohol intake . i would venture to say that not everyone is in need to have their cage rattled that much meaning this is very very powerful stuff , saying be careful means nothing as we are humans we do what we want till we get hurt but i will say it anyway ... all the best man , and please , consider lo and slo , ... be careful

yes i meant to type this much .

i dont speak in emojis .
