I trust your day is going (starting off) well.
48 y/o, M, American guy here. I've been an overseas English instructor for the past 23 years. My main hubs are: Florida, Alaska, Ecuador, Thailand, S. Korea and Saudi Arabia.
After 20 years of being diagnosed Bipolar (and taking psych meds) I decided to give Ayahuasca my trust and took part in 2 ceremonies in Southern Ecuador last February. I've since returned and repeated the journey once. It's had a profound impact on my life. I now exercise, yoga, meditate daily, eat mostly raw vegetables/fruit/nuts, seeds, ceased all alcohol and recreational drug use, value myself and truly enjoy living.
I have not smoked, extracted or otherwise studied about DMT, to be honest. At this point I feel more comfortable with the Aya ceremony I am somewhat familiar with.
To be completely honest, the scientific side of psychedelics does not interest me much. Surrendering to plant medicine, trusting in the shaman/handlers, etc. does interest me greatly and I feel fortunate to have experienced and felt a great amount of healing when doing so.
My main goal (and I'm not sure it's appropriate or possible on this forum) is to assist 3-4 others in traveling to Southern Ecuador to take part in their first Aya Ceremony (early January 2019) which will be filmed, edited and produced for release on the film festival circuit later in the year. My film-making partner and I have completed over a dozen films and premiered at Cannes earlier this year.
This may be a stab in the dark as this forum seems (perhaps) above such projects and infinitely wise regarding the scientific side of psychedelics.
The goal of the film is to demonstrate the process of ceremonies, promote the use of Ayahuasca and to portray seekers of ancestral healing through plant medicine(s).
Please forgive me if such a proposal goes against the attitude/allowances of this forum and redirect me if that is possible.
All the best to you, always.
