There hasn’t been a greater intellectual challenge in my life than integrating my DMT experiences into my worldview. Even if I was to restrain myself from a mystical interpretation and approach them from the perspective of materialistic reductionism as merely a product of overactive neurons, the implications would be not much less mind-boggling.

Because for the brain to be the sole generator of what is experienced in altered states of consciousness, it would need to be able to generate not only the infinitely alien and complex universe of DMT, but also the heaven and hell of 5-MeO-DMT. And that would mean there are seven billion people carrying God in their heads. And at that point, isn’t it just semantics?

Rick Strassman wrote that you’re an atheist until a 0.4 mg per kilogram dose. I wonder if there are any brave atheist souls left among us here. If I was a billionaire, I would bribe scientists to try Spice because I wish for every mind greater than mine to be challenged by it. Bring your Occam’s razor and see if you stand a chance against the elves.

It's certainly a doodle scratcher that's for sure, and it's a commonality that it generates more questions than it answers. The reductionist approach of saying it all happens inside our cranium is absurd for sure, for many various reasons.

I wouldn't agree with prescribing DMT for people though I understand where you're coming from - Terence McKenna shared a similar perspective and thought it could push us along a bit as a species. The trouble is at that point you're trying to play God; do you really want to potentially unbalance and unground people, especially people of influence?
