I am sure there is dmt in some of my local plants, no one has explored here, perhaps even 5-meo-dmt, is there anyway i can test this? perhaps some kind of field test? or is a full extraction necessary?

I have seen thin layer chromatography work well for identifying nmt and dmt. One to two square cm of phyllode containing 0.5-1.0 percent alkaloids works well.
I think others have attempted using commercially available ehrlich reagent. I can't remember whether it was completely successful. Of course it would only tell you if you have indoles.
These are two options to look into.
