Just wondering if it matters if my warm water bath gets a bit hot during acid soak, im having trouble keeping a constant temperature using my hot plate. It has occasionally gone up to 60 Celsius, is yhis likely to cause me any issues? Thanks in advance.

Your good. Too much heat might pull a little bit darker colored or oily product but it is not a big deal.

I am using double boiler - both hotplate and stove work good. I heat up the water up to 80 C and then turn off the heating. The inner container slowly gets to 40-50 degrees C.
Then I re-heat by re-immersing the container in hot water bath.

Thanks for the responses. Its now on a steady 50 I had to turn the heat up and get the water hot and then bring it down and it then holds its temperature, forwhatever reason the water doesnt reach that temp at the same setting without over heaitng it first, odd.

Can I just use a crock pot on low for the heated portion of the extraction? Also, the Max ion tek states to leave the solution heated for "minimum of 8 hours". This is in the "acidify" section of the instructions. Is that 8hrs for the acidify soak only, or is that inclusive of the Salinate/Base portion as well (everything up to the Pull)?

I ended up using a crock pot for my heater. I hooked it to one of the timed outlet switches (like people use on lamps, while on vacation). On for 30min, off for 30min. I figured that would keep the mix nice and warm, without actually cooking anything. Next time, I may try for on 30min, and off 1 hour. The water definitely got hot to the touch (not just warm). To the point of unpleasantness. Overall, though, seemed to work good.
