Hi everyone, I am a 30 year old guy with an amazing wife and daughter living on a small island in BC. I like playing harmonica and banjo, craft distilling, spending time in the bush and on the ocean, Puttering around on my hobby farm, punk rock, bluegrass, and I am super interested in chemistry, although I couldn't grasp it in high school. I would love to take an organic chem course one day.
I have been using the nexus for a year or so, and it has helped me immensely, from extractions to Integration, and I want to say thank you to everyone who puts their time into the site giving advice, posting experiments, and making the nexus the amazing place that it is. It is much appreciated.
I have a bit of experience with LSD, and lots with mushrooms, and have had a few great journeys on DMT.
I am grateful to be a member of this special site and hope I can contribute something meaningful in the future. I owe it to you guys and gals.
Thanks for reading, take care. AcidShard

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

Welcome! You live in an interesting area for psychoactive fungi, and if you have not already looked into this venture I highly recommend it, Liberty caps (psilocybe semilanceata) and psilocybe cyanescense (wavy caps), are common... Denis McKenna is in that area... Quote:He [Denis McKenna] is now a senior research scientist for the Natural Health Products Research Group at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in the Vancouver area. -Wikipedia Chemistry coarse can be a good way to go, at least to get the basics cemented into your long term memory, however, I had most the basics memorized ahead of time, and it still was not "easy" by any means, learn as much as you can a head of time, and don't give up. MAPS offers advice: Quote:As An Undergraduate Get Your Degree! Lie Low and Infiltrate the System The undergraduate years are a difficult time for the nascent psychedelic researcher because of the stigma that these drugs still hold. Many undergraduates come to realize that broadcasting their unconventional views at this time could potentially harm their future careers, and thus indirectly harm psychedelic research. Sometimes we have to conform to others’ expectations in order to establish a solid base of credibility, and wait for a time when we can be more independent in our pursuits. The book Why Shrooms Are Good by Joe Schmoe is likely to be ignored; Therapeutic Benefits of Psilocybin by Dr. Joe Schmoe considerably less so, even if both books say exactly the same thing. Incidentally, this was the path I followed; I didn’t breathe a word of my interests until I was already on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. Be warned, however–conformity for too long can corrode the soul. And in retrospect, you are freer as an undergraduate than you may think you are. http://www.maps.org/reso...a-psychedelic-researcher -eg

Thanks for the replies, Yes there are definitely cyanescens and others here, but cyans usually take longer to find than I would like. They are good hiders but worth the time looking.
I have had pretty good success with my first couple extractions by going about it the same way I learnt distillation. Read read read and eventually it makes enough sense you can take a stab at it.
When I first heard about DMT my friend called it "acid rock" as a nickname. He described it to me as "LSD is to a coca leaf as DMT is to a crack rock"
I always liked the word shard though and it is more like a shard than a mere rock, so that's where my name came from.
I have bark on the way and I was wondering if anyone has noticed significant differences With 4 acid boils versus warm water bath methods on the same material. Better quality? Bigger yield?
Anyway I will hopefully be posting a trip report soon, I've had some cool ones but Need to find the right words. Always the hard part.
And yes Tofino is amazing. I lived there for 10 years off and on, great place to visit, But hard to live there unless you're rich. And I'm poor. Tons of cool people end up there though.
Later, AcidShard
