Hi all, I am researching my first attempt and have read practically every tek on this site and elsewhere (many repro's from here) twice over.

I am very interested in the FASA Approach and will likely be following the tek known as "A Safer DMT Extraction" (No Lye, No Naptha) [by Infundibulum?] from the FASA Method summary original post by Entropymancer.

I'm sure you're all familiar with this tek, if not it's found halfway down the first post in the link above.


All that said, I am having conflict in 1 single area and its the acetone. In another tek or two acetone is noted as being required to be anhydrous. Is that the case for the above tek?

While simple enough sounding, I'd rather not go thru the process of baking epsom salt into a grey ash clump in the oven.

I believe this is my first post. I joined a few months back and have been reading and consuming what I can from the community hoping to settle in, in the same way I did years ago when I was active in the psilocbyin boards

Yes, the acetone needs to be anhydrous. If there is water mixed in, the fumarate salts will be less likely to precipitate out as crystals, because they are soluble in water.

Don't be afraid of baking epsom salts. Clean and pure epsom salts will not turn into grey ash, but will stay white. The clumpiness of the end result can be mitigated by slowly drying in a not-too-hot oven. Start with a lukewarm oven and gradually and slowly raise the temperature. Using a silicone baking mold as a container greatly helps getting out the clumps if they do happen.

Just buy a bucket of epsom salts and experiment a bit until you've got the hang of drying it. This isn't rocket science and if you think this is too hard already, I wonder about the sort of grief you'll be having if your first couple of actual extractions don't work quite like you were expecting them to.

Don't worry too much and try to have a fun time learning.

thanks for clearing that up, its not that i find baking the epsom salt to be hard, im just trying to prune out any un-necessary steps as i want a very laconic tek that will be less stressful.

considering the arduous start to finish process from back when i was growing mushrooms i think i'll find this a bit more relaxing. i was also about a decade younger then* and really admired the 'nauts making elf spice, glad to be inching closer and closer to becoming a part of.
