Well hello there, finally

First off, I have to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this forum not only possible, but such an incredible source of quality information. I have lurked for about a year or so, and in that time my eyes have been opened to more than I had ever thought possible in my wildest dreams. I have yet to try the spirit molecule, I hope to change that very soon, however I've spent the last year exploring with LSD (amongst others, but mainly Lucy). I feel like before psychedelics I was on a path of self destruction, a thought echoed by those closest to me. After psychedelics?... Well, I can't even begin to find the right words to describe just how much I have changed, grown. It's almost as if I was living a lifelong nightmare that would seemingly never end, only to find that one day it did end. And oh what's this? A beautiful, fascinating and wonderful world surrounds me. And oh again! I'm a human being, who has a soul, a soul that has started to shine and my god that feels so good! Like a nice warm cloud of love has descended from the heavens and wrapped me up snug as a bug.
OK so it's not all perfect, but I still pinch myself some days just to check that this is all still real, that it's not another trick being played on me from the darkness hiding in the shadows of my nightmare.
All this is to say, a very heartfelt thank you Nexians.
So, introductions out of the way, I do have a few extraction questions if someone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction.
1) When making 2M solution of NaOH, add 79.98g NaOH slowly into 500mL of water. This will result in the volume being more than 500mL. Then bring up to 1L (does not mean add another 500mL).
So this means that I need to take into account the volume increase and adjust the second measure of 500mL accordingly? And/or I need to add the water slowly so as not to create too high a temperature?
2) When DMT is dissolved in HCl it forms DMT hydrochloride, when it's dissolved in acetic acid it forms DMT acetate. It can then be neutralised with a base.
One would only use one or the other right? HCl or acetic acid, not both?
3) Following on from the previous question. Once the DMT is in freebase form, introducing a non-polar solvent attracts the freebase DMT.
Is this because one is positively charged and the other isn't? If so, is it the freebase DMT that is positively charged? My thinking behind that was that the DMT would be the donor therefore positive, however I've just checked my notes again and realised that isn't right, I'm thinking of acid and base there. Hmm.
4) When freeze precipitating wrap the pyrex dish and clingfilm and place in a ziploc bag.
Why is this? I know the clue is in the name, but I can't work it out.
Thanks everyone
