I think using vine only brews is a great way for beginners to start. Some people even prefer Ayahuasca without any "light" admixture (like Richard Schultes for example). I think it is a little easier to manage and less intense, but the teachings come through clear still.
You could potentially have a deep visual psychedelic type of experience with vine-only, but I wouldnt expect it. Expectations can really ruin ceremonies sometimes - you miss out on whats there because you spend the whole time looking for something else.... Vine only brews arent always more subtle, but they often are - so you may or may not have visions. You may not notice anything. You may notice a lot. Let it be whatever it wants to be and try to appreciate what you get, even if at first it seems like nothing.
The amount you want to use sounds fine... A little strong, but not too strong, especially considering you arent adding any "light" source like chacruna.
After you drink it, try to stay awake for a couple hours at least to see if it takes you on a journey, but even if you dont get out that far, pay attention to your dreams later. I recommend following dieta too - prepare your body for the medicine to increase your chances of a deeper experience.
Compared to other psychedelics, Ayahuasca is sometimes the most elusive in ceremony.... It may take a few ceremonies to really make a connection, or it may happen right away. Took me 4 ceremonies to really get there.... It is worth the work though - just try to be understanding and grateful even if you dont meet her right away
