Hello there travellers !!! Love Love Love

I want to share my failed sodium carbonate wash attempt
Maybe someone could help me , why that happened and maybe i can still save some of my spice ..
All comments and suggestions are super appreciated !! Embarrased

So , i started with dissolving 1.5 g spice in approx 70 ml hexane .. i prepared two jars (for two washes) with 100 ml water in each and 2 g sodium carbonate dissolved in each .. I placed the saturated solution in 1st jar , shaked it , removed it , placed it in second jar , shaked it , removed it , freeze precipitated it .. aaaaaaand left with only 300 mg spice lol Embarrased
Once the saturated solution were in jars , i noticed that some white clouds were passing from solvent layer to water layer .. i dont know if it was spice ..
Also i tryed to extract (if there was any) spice from sodium carbonate water with hexane in hope to save some spice and it did not worked .. i saved that water anyway , coz from smell i can tell there is spice in it .. (or not anymore Embarrased )

Once again all your remarks , comments , suggestions are super appreciated !!!!!!
Thank you for your time guys !!! Love

Sounds like you are doing a recrystallization and not a wash.

If you are going to do a sodium carbonate wash you don't need 2gr. I use like a small little pinch.

Say you have 300ml of Non-polar(Naphtha) that contains your DMT. I would use 30ml of distilled water. Adding only a small pinch of sodium carbonate and fully dissolving. Add to your solution and shake and let separate several times. The first wash is with sodium carbonate and I complete two more washes with distilled water alone.

If you already have freebase DMT and now are dissolving that into heptane then you are performing a recrystallization and a wash is not needed. Just complete the recrystallization as many times as desired and enjoy.

I am not entirely sure what to tell you as far as saving the DMT from the water solution. Might be a good question to ask in the chat room. My thought is to base your water solution and then complete a pull.

Good luck!

If your hexane lost its spice toward a basic water, it must have been crystallizing, as mentioned.

Was pH high enough?
Was temperature high enough?

Your hexane might take up the spice again when all is warm.
