A solution of water and citric acid at pH 3.5-4 is brought to heat and mixed with MHRB powder as with a normal A/B (repeat three times, discard powder).

Then simply evaporate/dehydrate.

Add dry-acetone (perhaps w/ extra citric acid), then filter into dry-FASA. Wash the solids two more times.

The rest is FASA as usual (with MEK at the end for a more pleasant smell).

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Does DMT citrate convert to fumerate? I think you may have to freebase it first and then change to fumerate... not sure on this one.

Well, that's a part of the original FASA tek. Because DMT Citrate is soluble in acetone, and DMT Fumarate is not, any time some DMT Citrate is converted to Fumarate (which it will to maintain equilibrium), the DMT Fumarate precipitates out, reducing the equilibrium back to zero on the fumarate side and ensuring that slowly but surely (almost) all the citrate crashes out as fumarate. Of course I don't know this first hand but I trust this forum Smile

Oh yeah I remember that tek now. My concern was more about the pka's and ph's of fumaric and citric acid, but if others have had luck with this tek then I guess there's no need to worry.

Where I'm varying from the tek is the very first step. In the "traditional" FASA (hah!), the MHRB is covered in CASA three times over several days. I'm a patient person, but I'm actually more anxious about having to decant the acetone, as it is supposed to remain dry, but will suck moisture out of the air as one fiddles around, trying to squeeze acetone out of however much root bark!

Now if the initial mass is reduced to DMT Citrate and whatever water-soluble compounds (dried completely perhaps with a pinch of drierite), I imagine the decanting/filtering would go alot more smoothly, and that the DMT Citrate would only need three brief, vigorous, washes with CASA, as opposed to several days' worth of steeping.

To me this all seems very logical and straightforward, but I'm no chemist so expert insight is appreciated.
