apparently ice cream is very easy to make, even without an ice cream maker (a timer helps).
i discovered this recently when i was gifted a bulk amount of oolong, and used what was essentially a
combination of
three different
recipesthe latter just being a method for making ice cream without a maker of any kind. the ice cream was so easy to make, and so delicious, it had me inspired to try it again using cannabis instead of oolong.
you basically just add equal parts cream and whole milk, and sweeten to taste (i used about 1.5 cups for 6 cups of liquid)
then you add your ground cannabis (go for the tasty, frosty stuff. you want a good flavor and some potency) - i used a little over half a cup, and felt this was a good amount.
put the mixture on low heat (hot enough to steam, not enough to bubble or make the sides act funny, don't be afraid to turn the heat off from time to time and let it steep), stirring and steeping for as long as you feel necessary (unlike teas, cannabis won't bitter if you steep it for a long time - at least, it didn't for me, this was my first time doing this, so idk how consistent that lack of bittering is, but just taste as you go, and stop if it starts taking on a bitterness, though a little bit of bitterness with tea ice cream is nice, as there is enough sweetness to cover it up)
while that mixture is simmering and steeping, you can take your egg yolks (i use 1 yolk per cup of liquid, plus an extra 1 to boot, so it doesn't get too custardy), and beat the shit out of them with just a pinch of sugar (aids in the color change to make it pale, so you know its ready)
then you strain your cannabis out (unless its very finely ground, and you WANT specks of green on your teeth after eating it), and slowly pour the hot filtered mixture into the egg yolks, while beating the yolks.
put that back on heat for a bit, stirring occasionally, until you feel the egg yolk is thoroughly cooked.
then you can refrigerate that overnight and begin the freezing process, or be impatient like me and start freezing it immediately (make sure you cover it in the freezer)
you want to make sure you start this process in the morning, because you are going to take the mixture out of the freezer every ~30 mins or so, and churn it (just agitate it so the ice crystals that form are rather small)
just keep doing that until you have delicious cannabis ice cream.
(Also a drop of lemon oil or other similar flavonoids found in cannabis can help aid the flavor)
