I got into an argument with a friend a few days ago. He and I have used high doses of [alleged] LSD probably 6 times in the past, but this was at least a few years ago. We usually took 2 hits each, but my friend did 4 hits once.

He insists that the LSD experience and alcohol experience are essentially the same. In other words, his position is that there's nothing you can get on LSD that you can't get on alcohol. I have always felt that the LSD experience is much more profound, illuminating, and stimulating than that of alcohol, but my friend disagrees with me on these points. This is very confusing to me.

There are 4 possible explanations that I can think of:
1. My friend is deluded.
2. I am deluded.
3. LSD affects my friend differently than me.
4. Alcohol affects my friend differently than me.

As for (3), I can't say I know much about my friend's body except that he is anemic. He takes some medications now that he wasn't taking when we used LSD, so maybe those could be affecting his memory of the experiences or even his current experiences with alcohol.

Anyways, I'm just wondering if it is possible for LSD to affect people this differently.
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

I would question the purity, of the LSD he's taking...

Probably so, but two human brains can only be so different. I presumed that they can't be so different that one could be immune to the psychedelic effects of LSD.

I would too, except that he claims that the only times he ever did LSD were those times when we did it together. He took as much or more LSD than I and it was the same product (dropped from the same vial).

Stan grov had a man dosed with like 2-4mg of LSD and nothing happened. Some people are naturally more resistant to it's effects (psychological block). This man finally felt something from the LSD once his internal blockade has been breached. Power of belief.

i think some peoples response can be massively different. while im not immune to LSD, everytime i have taken LSD with people they are always very effected, melting world, patterns everywhere, they are so high they cant talk or walk properly, ect, ect.

While this is happeneing to them i have taken at least twice the dose, and often more than that, and i can basically go about my day as if nothing is happening, this isnt because i ignore or resist the effects, its because not much happens.

I have had sober people arrive at the gathering and say to me that its nice that i would be the sober sitter for the session, they are very surprised when i tell them that i have taken a much larger dose than the people cowering under the kitchen table hiding from demons.

I have found that most people get effected in a pretty similar fashion but i can easily believe that some people have a very different time, even to the point of it not really effecting them at all. I have no idea why this is, it may be tolerance, it may be something else.

I myself can feel lower doses of LSD. Simply in way of a traveling molecule inside my body and an enhanced brain capacity. Nothing more nothing less. Consecutive doses every day will produce really cool effects that I enjoy thoroughly that is notably different from doing one dose at a time.

Higher doses are also quite cool and consistently produce some hallucinations but most of it's effects are on the psychological/mental/emotional level for me.

The first hour is usually rough but I notice the next hour I am increasingly sensitive to Hygiene and usually have to abort all internal fun because I am suddenly being bombarded by Bacteria/Virus and notice my body deterioating rather quickly. Bruises/red spots etc. it is pretty remarkable...

Reminds me of the first year or so Salvia divinorium leaf was available to the general public in the US and all the people talking about completely losing touch with reality vs. all the people talking about it being nothing more than placebo and not really experiencing anything. Personal metabolism as well as just allowing one's self to open up to a psychedelic can make a HUGE difference in the experience, even when dealing with some of the most spectacularly potent psychedelics known to humankind.

Thanks 3rdI. Your experience is eye-opening. At least it puts my friend's disposition in perspective a little.

I can relate. My mind doesn't always go there, but if it does it can be very hard to go back. If I look at my hands while on DMT, my skin looks really blotchy and discolored, almost like it's semi-transparent.

I understand there being a difference between people's experiences with Salvia because the intensity of the experience depends so much on smoking ability. Someone who has never smoked something before won't get enough smoke deep enough into their lungs, but they won't know the difference. To them it will seem like they did the same thing as everyone else and nothing happened. What I'm trying to say is that LSD dosing is much more reliable.
