I was thinking about a quick and cheap way to solve the naphtha issues (without technical lab instruments).
As every novice alchemist knows the main problems with naphtha (or other solvent) are: 1- The very disturbing solvent smell and fumes that spread around the house. 2- The obvious waste of solvent that once has evaporated get lost.
So i was wondering if anybody could build up a simple device to collect the naphtha fumes during the reduction/evaporation stage, sublimate it to store in a jar for the next use and without to cause any harm to the dmt.
What happen if i build a very simple distiller making a hole in the lid of the phyrex evaporator dish, and connect it with a plastic tube that end in a jar where to store and collect the naphtha? Is it necessary to add also a condense device in this system? The phyrex dish, then, is going to be put in a hot bath: very low temperature (less than 50C) should not ruin or evaporate the dmt but only speed up the solvent evaporation...am i right??
The first reason because i ask this is that i got a problem in the reduction stage (pre evaporation before freezing), i place the dish in a hot bat with a fan, open the window and go outside the room waiting for the complete reduction. But as you can guess this is not easy at all to control, because i have to come back in the room to check the liquid level (take the dish out from the bath and breath the fumes). I do not even mention the crazy smell that goes around the room and cause lot of suspects and explanations... or the cost of the lighter fluid that one must afford with each extraction.
So anybody have some info about it.. any idea?

Sounds like the distillation could work, in theory. I've never tried that to comment, though. Freeze precipitation works pretty well and you get to keep and reuse your solvent. Pre-evaporating isn't always necessary if you pull with small amounts of naptha that are more likely to be saturated. I came across this article recently that might help with your fumes situation though. https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=61972

First of all, if this is not your house and the owners are not aware of what you're doing, don't do it. You are putting others at risk, if you would for some reason get caught, the police could take the house away from the owner becuase of what you are doing.
Now, considering this is not the case, you can look into distillation equipment, or build yourself a fumehood (though in that case you wouldnt reuse the solvent).
Or as a more simple answer, why not change the solvent you use? Why not extract with vegetable oils or limonene, or do ethanol or IPA-based dry teks?
Or why not salt out your naphtha instead of evaporating it, and then convert the salted product to freebase with any of the available methods in the wiki? Or why not do multiple small pulls and freeze precipitate them directly isntead of pre-evapping?

Well aren't you being picky?
In your case I second endlessness with using a solvent that has less fumes.
You could also try a slower evaporation that doesn't put off so many fumes at once.

you want to distill it...condense the solvent, not sublimate it. there's no getting out of using a condenser of some sort, whether you set up a proper distillation app (which i have to admit, also looks really sketchy), or improvise. if you go with the former method, you could attach a hose to the vacuum takeoff adapter, and connect the end to an activated carbon vapor trap. just an idea, and yes, this all costs money. My idea was to build something like this : ![](/forum/FileProxy.ashx?src=http://img.youtube.com/vi/MIwqmOnOHmQ/0.jpg) obviously in pace of the pan i would put the phyrex dish well sealed. but i also wonder if this : ![](/forum/FileProxy.ashx?src=http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/236x/5a/8a/bc/5a8abc41cf55e921d8377dd69b613d04.jpg) would work anyway. Thanks for all your advice, they were really helpful.. Quote:First of all, if this is not your house and the owners are not aware of what you're doing, don't do it. Im very open to use some natural alternatives, in fact i started to research it... but the problem is the availability of limonene where i live... it is VERY hard to find it. is there any tek that use only veg oil and then separate dmt from it?? I checked the ecofriendly teks in the wiki but they seem only to be limo based.

Sometimes limonene is sold as 'essential orange oil', though in such packaging its usually more expensive. In any case you can always buy limonene over the internet. Ebay, amazon, etc. But yeah you can use vegetable oil too, here's a link: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=61329Or you can try this: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=30501Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Another question related to the material to use: Do you create any complication using a plastic tube instead of a metal one?
Does naphtha create any contrast with copper or some other material in this process?
Consider i have not to deal with really hot fumes!

Personally I'd avoid all plastic for extractions if possible: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=26324Not sure about copper or other materials, it depends. Keyword to search is: " chemical resistance X Y" , where X and Y are the solvents or materials you are using.

Not even for the phyrex lid?? ..cause finding an alternative for the plastic tube sounds easy enough... but i cant figure anything out to replace the plastic lid. P.s.: I will definitely let you know!
