At one point when i got my san pedro i tried to grow them inside during the winter, ended up getting etiolation. Should i cut below the skinny part to create a new cutting? Or would it be better to just let them continue to grow.

Second question is its almost winter if i do take a cutting or multiple does it make since to take a cutting now and let it dry out/sit during the winter or should i leave the cacti dormant during the winter and take the cuttings in the spring.

Any help or tips are greatly appreciated. Smile

IDK why the pictures are sideways they arent on my computer :/

I was reading around and now fear that my cacti are the PC or Pachnot clone based on how it looks and where i got it from.....

Can anyone comment on this or confirm if it is the Pachnot and if it is does it have any potency at all? Ill grow them regardless but if they arent potent to the point of not working then i will probably pick up some Bridgesii in the spring.

i'd get some bridge's growing...

i'd also cut off the tips above the skinny growth once the cutting is over 12" tall

That was my first thought on seeing the pics. They could be good grafting stock to get more reliable cacti growing fast. [This] is an example of the idea.

I like to wait for basal pupping to occur before cutting off at the etiolated portion to prevent wasting of growing time as it tries to start a pup, but PC isnt reliable in pupping low down on the stem. Since they clearly arent dormant yet, cutting now would give it a chance to begin the new pups as it goes dormant and those could then grow straight away in the spring.

Actually two of the ones with skinny necks do have pups! Went ahead and cut them wiped with isopropyl and put under a fan to dry.
