Hello all, as I stated in my topic title, I'm a new member but have browsed for years now. Great place for information. I'm 41 with a gf of 7 years and a 3 year old son. I am not new to psychedelics at all, matter of fact I'm more experienced than all of my friends except maybe one, lol.
The reason I'm here and made an account is because I recently tried changa for the first time (have done extracted dmt on many occasions. My problem is this, while trying changa for the first time this morning, I was hit with the most awful nausea. I was wondering is this common? I have never experienced nausea whilst smoking extracted dmt, and am not sure why I did with the changa.. I have enough for 2 breakthru doses, but am a bit hesitant due to the nausea I experienced this morning, took 1 small hit to kinda gauge it, then another bigger hit right after. Visions were great, no breakthru tho, as that wasn't my intention this morning.
Is nausea from smoking changa normal, or maybe a conflict in diet, or maybe my frame of mind at the time? Any help or replies would be greatly appreciated... Thanks in advance..

Tested the changa out again this afternoon, took a huge hit, about 2-4 minutes after partaking, I was hit with nausea again, if I woulda had anything in my belly it would have looked like the exorcist all over again.....Talked to my buddy in miami that sent it to me, the leafy material was sage, cappi seeds and some mint... not sure where the nausea is coming from... definitely not anxiety as I had none, wasn't worried at all.... any ideas folks???

Hi ScubaSteve73, welcome to the Nexus,

I'm afraid I can't help you with your question, but I'm sure sooner or later someone who can will read this.

It's probably the plant material that is causing your discomfort, though which of those I don't know. I don't smoke because I don't like carbon monoxide. My advice would be to make your own changa with plant material that you've tested on its own to see how you react to it. This way you'll also know what else has been put on the leaves and so you can rule out contaminants or adulterants or stuff you just don't react well to...

I have to ask - because of your name - you do scuba diving?

I once had nausea from changa, but i had eaten prior to amoking it.
If you smoked on an empty stomach, perhaps try to only smoke the plant base (e.g caapi) and see if you get any reaction.

no I don't scuba dive, but my name is Steve, lol, seemed to fit.....I'm also thinking it was the caapi that was causing the nausea, stomach was totally empty both the times I had nausea, and the nausea came on right at the peak..........as for extracting my own, been studying up on it for 2 years now, but with a child in the house and nowhere else to do it, I'm doubting I will ever get the opportunity, which sucks, cause I could so do it, lol.... I have a buddy out of state that has no probs sending to me, I'm the one who turned him onto DMT a few years ago, so while I can't actually make it myself, I have total trust in the guy who does..... He is serious about what he does......I feel like I shoulda joined a long time ago, all I have ever done here is browse for info...Smile

Welcome to the nexus!

I have had some issues with changa myself, where others partaking in the same batch have no issues. And ironically I am insensitive to DMT compared to my friends, but the harmalas seem to really stress my system out. If your friend is willing ask for varied grades of caapi in the changa and do some regulated testing on yourself, assuming you have ruled out some sort of chemical contamination.

Best of luck and safe travels-

I have heard of nausea in relation to changa only once before. It occurred with one particular batch of changa made by a friend. I did not smoke any of it, but I heard that it caused several people to vomit after smoking.

My theory about this batch of changa has so far been, that the alcohol used to prepare it must have contained an emetic that is nonvolatile and was concentrated into the changa as the solvent was evaporated. I suspect that the changa that you have has also been prepared using a solvent that is denatured with some kind of an emetic substance.

When making changa by dissolving dmt and harmalas into a solvent and then evaporating of the solvent, always make sure to have distilled the solvent beforehand. This way, any nonvolatile components of the solvent will stay behind in the still, not in the changa. Alternatively, use only medical or food grade ethanol.

Apart from any emetics, denatured alcohols may also contain such stuff as bitrex (denatonium benzoate). This is not limited to ethanol only, methanol and (iso)propanol may also contain these substances to discourage people from imbibing them.

I thank everyone for their replies, still working on this, my bud is gonna send me each of the ingredients he used, caapi, sage and some mint, gonna try all these seperately to try and find the cause, I will mention to him the solvent theory also.....thanks guys, glad I joined finally, lol blessing to all.....friend is gonna be making another batch soon so I should have some crystal dmt also, never experienced any problems from just crystal before so maybe this will help narrow what my problem is..... a friend also tried a hit of the changa, had no nausea problems, everything turned to snakes for him, lmao said he looked down at his feet and they were covered with copperheads, grass snakes, etc..... didn't bother him a bit tho,

Hi. What kind of harmalas was used in your changa? Why can't you make your own? If it's not more difficult then making a 'proper' blackforest cake from scratch? Thumbs up

edit: try avoid caffeine (tea/coffee) before and after harmalas
