I had many sleep paralysis in my life. Unfortunately until recently I never dared to go through with it, forcing myself to wake up. Until I found out what it was: brain disconnected from body during sleep. A couple of years back I first dared to let it happen. Floating above my body getting pulled apart and twisting in weird positions. Quite funny when you understand the science of what's going on. Always felt really refreshed when I woke up from it.
But I wouldn't call sleep paralysis true astral travel.
I experienced what could have been the start of astral travel twice. Both happened a couple of months after I used DMT for the first time. Actually, my first post on nexus was about this:
Near break through while sober in a lucid dreamThe experience freaked me out, so I didn't go through with it. I had the same experience an other time. Again, I started meditating in my dream and everything started vibrating very hard. This time it took full effort for quiet some time to struggle to get out. Afterwards not able to figure out if I should feel disappointed for not going through or that I did the right thing. It felt like I would die, remember thinking I'm not ready for that.
Maybe one day I will have the guts to go through with it..
