Hello New user here. Thank you for your help and guidance - this place rocks. So SWIM just had an experience that scared him somewhat. He completely lost his physical body and couldn't locate himself in space. Whilst this has happened before the 'Don't trip above ground level' advice broke through and he suddenly found himself worried about death through his bedroom window and what a waste this would be. So he has a few questions for you guys: As things get more intense is it possible to physically move in the peak of an experience to the extent that you could climb out of a window? His experience so far says that it is not. SWIM rationalises that the fear that came was probably less to do with an actual possibility of falling from a window, and more to do with the gradual realisation that he is not what he thought he was; in that everything he held his life to be is challenged in a stunning and visceral way. However during the peak of the trip the entities seemed to be saying 'let go' (probably a very valuable lesson) but there were others that seemed to be menacingly pointing towards a window and others that were warning him of it. Has anyone ever 'come around' to find themselves in a different physical place from where they started? SWIM is of sound mind and very emotionally happy and stable. He just wants reassurance that if he 'lets go' he wont find himself falling to his death (in the conventional sense at least ) Much Love <3 xx

Welcome, Ben! I shouldn't worry about it too much. You are basically put on your arse throughout the whole thing. If you smoke it on a sofa, you won't leave that sofa until you are done. The whole thing of jumping off a building/out a window on psyches is pretty damn rare, and mostly started over the death of Diane Linkletter, the daughter of a popular US TV presenter. She committed suicide some six months after taking a hit of LSD, but the presenter blamed the drugs (and not her state of mind), and went on a campaign to tell all of America that LSD=jumping out of windows. http://www.snopes.com/horrors/drugs/linkletter.aspTruth be told, you'd probably have a pretty hard time opening a window on LSD. I've tripped my times "above ground" as it were at some pretty high doses, and at no point ever has the thought of jumping out the window occurred. I guess though, as a precaution, if you are concerned you are the sort of person who might defenestrate themselves, then maybe get a sitter for piece of mind . Or, you know, lock the windows Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” ― Hunter S. Thompson

Thanks for that To rationalise it further I think I was confronted with my death (or perhaps death of my ego) and what that might mean. And my reaction was 'hell no!!' Either way I didn't want to 'let go' because of the window fear. If I found I had moved significantly after a trip then perhaps the fear would be grounded - but I guess it was my ego holding on... Or perhaps it meant nothing Much Love <3 xx

Haha, as long as your reaction is "hell no", all is well. Once you vape that magic, you aint going anywhere! Not physically anyway “Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behaviour and information processing. They open you up to the possibility that everything you know is wrong.”

I would say its possible; I can imagine a scenario where the mental torment could result in such physical restlessness as a misguided attempt to 'relieve' oneself of the experience that moving around with less than full control could ensue. If the window was already open and was large enough then I don't see why not. The advantage of vaporised DMT is its short duration where the time doesn't exist to get into a real weird headspace which affirms the correctness of the decision to jump out of a window. The oral route (and the other classic agents) are more than capable of disturbing ones thinking enough to make this seem like an appropriate response to end a truly horrific trip. I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

I don't think it's very likely to happen. In my admittedly limited experience people traveling through the DMT space generally don't move much at all. I've certainly never seen anyone stand up or walk around during a breakthrough experience, and AFAIK I've never done so either.
If you're really concerned about it either find another safe space where you can do your travelling, or get yourself a sitter.

Please take notice of this thread by Olympus Mon: https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=34293Quote: Olympus Mon wrote:Hey guys and gals. I want to share this with the community so we can all take a min to understand how important setting and sitters can be in certain situations.
It was a great small gathering of good friends on the river here in Oregon. As the party was winding down and the sun was getting ready to rise our friend decided to enjoy a sunrise vape session on the dock to welcome the new day before he turned in to his tent to sleep. He has experience with dmt and was a reasonably responsible man. He never made it to his tent. When everyone woke they began searching for him feeling something was wrong. Down at the dock was found his shoes and his gvg and jar of dmt at the waters edge. We all knew what had happened and sadly it was confirmed when his body was found a couple hundred yards down the river pant legs rolled up and barefoot. It seems likely that he blacked out during his vape session and fell into the water never to return to this world. The cause of death was drowning and there is no reason to suspect suicide or fowl play. Not to exaggerate the dangers but please be safe.

If you have that in the back of your mind then why not eliminate that variable so you don't take any mental baggage into the trip. If any part of the setting or set are giving you doubts then I'd suggest it would be wise eliminate those aspects so you can let go and feel safe.
I really can't see it happening on DMT though. Salvia is a totally different story, people have been known to do all sorts of unpredictable things in that space and some people can be very mobile and unrational under its influence - jumping out of windows included.

I wouldnt worry about it man. I dont think you can move barely a foot never mind getting near a window. each time ive left whilst being on a bean bag, and each time came back pretty much in that exact same spot.

Lock the window, have a sitter present, do whatever you have to do in order to feel reassured. I definitely wouldn't want thoughts like that creeping into my mind as I'm beginning to catapult into the depths of hyperspace.

DMT really is the "big dog" of psychedelics - its why so many of us fear, respect and love it. If you're not in a setting where you cannot possibly do yourself or others harm, you really should have a "sitter" as others have recommended above. Safe travels... Exactly. A sitter would be very beneficial with DMT. Although I'd imagine many people are are also comfortable with being alone.. with time perhaps. Interesting thought, though! Jumping straight out of a window is more closer to other psychoactives, imo. 'What's going to happen?' 'Something wonderful.'

It is physically possible to walk around even while on very high doses of DMT, but not likely to happen. And even less likely that you'd unknowingly jump out of a window. So I don't think dwelling on it will do you any good, but it is always important to be as careful as possible and pay great attention to your set/setting beforehand, eliminating any possible distractions of dangers. You could also just get a sitter.

Anytime I go over 15mg I have a sitter present. To some this may seem excessive but I have broken bones on psilohuasca (no memory of how, just came to in a pile of rubble). But it was really Oly's story that cemented that habit into place. That, and another story he told where he came down from a trip face-first on the floor, eyes only inches from the still-hot GVG.
So, moving about on DMT is usually limited to flopping forward into the ground. This is why I don't vape in the bench by our pond, even though it would be a great setting for it in other ways. However, I once shared the spice with a friend who got up and paced the room dramatically after vaping... No memory of it. So this kind of psychedelic somnambulation is not out of the question. As Heironimous said, best not to even have it present as mental baggage.

Personally I prefer to travel alone because I can let myself fall deeper instead of having the feeling of somebody watching me even if it is somebody very close but then again I do it from time to time. I think that it could be possible for some people to jump out of a window but the only thing I've managed to do while blasting off on 40mg was to sit up straight as an arrow with my eyes open and completely dialated. I'd worry about it more on LSD because I can't differentiate between reality and visions when taking a 5 strip while being pretty active or at least thinking I am.

On a particularly strong pharma/ayahuasca and vaporized mixed-session with a friend I ended up RUNNING across the room to get away from the trip: approx 15-20 feet or so. It was in the peak of a very large hit, in mid-stream of the oral trip as well. I have also danced around, and done what I later found out were mudras. shrug It is possible, so be aware of the possibility. But it's not probable in my limited experience. All these posts are on behalf of Stimpy, my yellow bullhead. He is an adventurous fish, and I feel his exploits are worth sharing...so much so, I occasionally forget that HE is the one who does these things. Sometimes I get caught in the moment and write of his experiences in the first person; this is a mistake, for I am an upstanding citizen who never does wrong. Stimpy is the degenerate.
