So after doing a lot of research on DMT and how to extract it, I've decided to follow Elfspice's Compleat Acacia Extraction. I am new to this forum, but have been visiting it a lot recently and decided to join it, and hopefully discuss my findings.
I have decent knowledge in Chemistry, so the process of extraction seems very do-able, my only concern is getting the right plant. I have read that Acacia Maidenii seems to be the species I need for my location (Coastal NSW), and I think I have identified a few of them, however, the flowers haven't started blooming yet so I am not sure. If anyone could look at these pictures and tell me what species it is, I would be very grateful

The one on the left, with the smaller, longer flowers, I believe might be Maidenii, the other one, with the shorter stubbier flowers, I have no idea.

As this is my first time doing an extraction, I would like to know what to look out for, and how things can go wrong during the process, and also how much yield to expect from certain species, provided the extraction is nearly perfect.

As I have never smoked DMT before, do you have any advice or suggestions on starting doses, and how much they are?
I have a small test tube vapouriser which works very well, so will I be able to use that?

Thanks again for all your help, I am very excited to be a part of this forum and I hope I will be able to contribute in the future.

Thanks, I read through most of it, but I can only post in here, so I was hoping for some identification of the plant.

It looks like a maidenii or acuminata var narrow phyllode to me, but I'm far from the best one to ask. Id suggest changing the title of your thread to include "Acacia ID Help" so people with the knowledge to make a definitive ID will click.

As for doses, start small 10- 15 Mg. I also smoked my own extraction for my first (and all since) DMT experiences and found it necessary to test the waters several times to be sure it had yeilded non-contaminated DMT before being able to let go. Working through the process changed my perspective from one of seeking one-off experiences to one of developing a life-long relationship with the molecule, and these things can take time.

Hi looks like madenii but I'm not 100%..for % dmt/ alkaloid content check the acacia info thread or acacia analysis thread or even the wiki.

New members can post in the acacia I'd thread.

neither of your samples are maidenii, which as you state should be in full bloom at the moment..

I performed my first small extraction with about 50 grams of bark, and managed to evaporated a small amount of brownish goo, which instead of purifying, I smoked. There were some effects, I got very slight visuals and a sort of head high where I stared at a spot on my desk and thought that time had stopped exactly in that location. This lasted a couple of minutes. I can confirm that these plants have some form of alkaloids in them, but as this was by first DMT experience, I don't know if it was potent or not.

Stripping bark (it's skin and armour) can harm the trees health significantly and enable a slow death, which if repeated on a number of trees will damage the population significantly possibly even kill it as seen in NSW.
Often phyllodes will have almost the same % sometimes more, so clean concise pruning of phyllodes with sterilized seceters is much less harmful and more sustainable.
Before harvesting its worth thinking whether your curiosity and want of a greater yeild is more important than preserving a trees health. (of which you may want to go back to if the end product is good)

I agree, start small and gradually work your way up. I usually recommend starting at 5mg and slowly increasing dosage in 5mg increments. This is also a good way to go because it often takes a few tries to get the technique just right. No reason to risk wasting 20-40mg while one is still getting the technique figured out.

I am doing a test extract on the phyllodes right now, it seems to be the best option as it doesn't damage the trees as much, and they are easier to collect and shred. I have read a lot about people killing the trees by stripping off the bark, which is why I was careful to only take a small amount from various trees. If the phyllodes extraction works out well, I don't see a reason to go and strip anymore bark.

As for the vaporiser, the one I have (modified test tube) works great with weed, and seemed to work well with the DMT goo, ass the flame can not physically touch the substance, only the glass which then heats it.

It sounds like your smoking method is conduction heat, rather than convection, which works better with DMT. You might have better luck with the "sandwich method."

I extracted more bark and phyllodes, got a little bit of sticky oil which I smoked, tasting like before, but I got no effect from it.

Why do you keep insisting in taking the bark off live trees when the phyllodes will work just aswell if dmt is active in the trees

you're taxing ,, esp when you have no clue about what you're doing , I've seen multible threads your've posted all of them have

same topic but under differant headings ! I think you should do what this place is purposely built for and that is learning , it looks

like you're making an effort buy hitting the bush in search of differant trees that's the hard part !! reading is the easy part so as I

said before , the FAQ thread , the acacia ID thread & improving acacia information thread is all here for the taking !!

Seek and you shall find !!!

Believe me, I have read the FAQ's many times. I haven't stripped much bark off trees, and after 2 extractions, I am now only using phyllodes and twigs. I realise that I am posting a lot, but I wouldn't say that I am posting the same thing over again. The reason I'm posting is to try and gather other peoples personal experience, which is not found in the FAQ. I'm doing this in order to make sure the extractions are done correctly, with the correct trees.

It's all just too exciting and I have now gained a appreciation of Acacia trees after several bush walks. I will try to restrain myself from posting similar type threads from now on.
Thanks.
