So as I write in the afterglow of the DMT experience, I'd like to share what's happened and find out if anyone has had a similar experience. I've used DMT a considerable amount, but this is a very strange experience that I've never had before.
I had a breakthrough dose, and as I started to return to baseline I exhaled and made a (semi)conscious decision not to immediately inhale and hold my breath.
I felt, at this point, to have the most intimate connection between mind and body, a synergy of sorts, as my body started to run out of air. I guess I reached a point where I needed to breathe, and at this moment I felt almost like a series of waves of 3-4, full body jolts/tremors which rushed from the top of my head downwards (I imagine it would feel like being electrocuted) which caused me to open my eyes in shock and take a deep breath.
I then tried to replicate the same thing straight away with identical results. Same physical awareness and tremor/jolts.
It almost felt like I was on the verge of 'death' described similarly by Alice Shulgin in PiHKAL.
Has anyone had a similar experience, or know what causes these tremors or jolts?

Oxygen deprivation? Onset of on out of body experience? I don't know. I do know that tremors are a common thing to happen when dealing with infinite. Electric zaps. Let 'em happen and clap along.
What do you think they are?

I haven't experienced the tremors, but the first few breaths after a long aya journey can be absolutely wonderful. On a few occasions, usually when everything clicks and the experience is deep, I find myself taking extremely deep breaths as I return from hyperspace. I remember wondering if this is how a baby feels when taking it's first breath. The feeling was wonderful. I assume that my breathing during the journey was very shallow and my body was in some level of oxygen debt after several hrs. Anyway, those deep breaths feel sooooo good!

When I come down Ive never tried holding my breath. But I always love turning over on my side and laying down haha its such a nice, comfy feeling. Im going to try holding my breath. "A troop of elves smashes down your front door and rotates and balances the wheels on the after death vehicle, present you with the bill and then depart. And it's completely paradigm shattering. I mean, ya know, union with the white light you could handle. An invasion of your apartment by jeweled self dribbling basketballs from hyperspace that are speaking in demonic Greek is NOT something that you anticipated and could handle!' -T.M. I've had tremors a few times, pretty serious ones where my whole body kind of convulsed... G-G-G-G-G.... Teeth chattering, feet drumming on the ground. And I may be confabulating here but it seems that the strength of the tremors is in direct relation to the profundity of the experience. A strong dose where I didn't bring back anything significant, no tremors. A more moderate dose where I was allowed to bring back something significant or possibly life changing- tremors. Not sure about the breathing part though... I do sometimes forget to breathe, or start second-guessing the timing between breaths. I did once intentionally restrict my breathing during a superintense 5-MEO aya trip as a means of centering and calming myself, which worked pretty well.
