So I invested in an arc lighter, went and got some five times refined butane like suggested, bled the lighter, refilled the lighter numerous times.

Problem is that everytime I refill it, the filling valve always hisses the fuel back out, googled remedies, says to bleed the lighter so I did alot. Turned the flame all the down, nothing seems to work. It says if it hisses then theres air in it, but nothing seems to work.

ANyone have any ideas on how to fix it, or is it a defective lighter? Im about to throw it in the trash.

Sounds defective, mine never hissed back, at least it doesnt keep hissing once you removed the refiller, it just hisses very shortly as you pull it out just like when filling up any other lighter, but the valve closes it right after.

I remember there was an arc lighter substitute people mentioned in the nexus which was exactly the same but much cheaper... I can`t recall the name, I think gibran2 had it, search around a bit and maybe you can find it, or pm him

well thanks, i guess its just defective.

I think there also might be extremely small amounts of air left in it after bleeding. I currently have a knife jammed into the switch so Im going to just let it all bleed out like that for a few hours just to make sure its 100% empty. Well see how that goes. If not i did see that 3 pack of arc lookalikes on here before may just invest in those and hope for better luck.,

Torch lighters used to be the bane of my existence, and then I got the Arc which worked really well for a while, but ended up breaking. If you do a little searching on the Nexus, you'll find several threads of people having faulty Arcs in one way or another. It's quite frustrating. I no longer use it. I don't remember what the name of the one I use now is, but I got it for half the price of the Arc at a local tobacco shop, and it's more reliable (and possibly carries more fuel) than the Arc. I think it might be called the "Vector" or something like that...I'm not sure. I'll get back to you.
