Does anybody know whether or not Trileptal will react negatively with ayahuasca? I have a close friend who is very interested in aya, and informed me that he took Trileptal. It's not an SSRI, but could it still have adverse effects? Any help is greatly appreciated Big grin

Oxcarbazapine according to Novartis who make it, and the British National Formulary, mention a theoretical risk of interactions with MAOIs leading to a reduced seizure threshold and hence a risk of fits.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Oxcarbazepine is an anti-epileptic agent through.

Indeed. If its used in epilepsy rather than say trigeminal neuralgia, this risk is more relevant.
