I seem to recall listening to a speech by terrence mckenna in which he states that the germinated seeds or sprouts of phalaris grass have significant dmt content. He said its possible to greatly shorten the harvest time by skipping the grow and just extracting from large amounts of sprouted seeds.

Has anyone else heard of anything like this? I haven't been able to find anything about it other than the reference to it on a youtube video i just talked about.

It sounds alright in theory, i can imagine if one had large amounts of seeds it would be a lot simpler than waiting months for it to grow. any experience or knowledge on the matter?

the plant is Extremely Invasive.. don't let it get into the environment.. birds poop out the seeds over vast areas.. it spreads like wild fire.

This is the reason I only grow phalaris indoors.
As for when to harvest, I'm not sure yet, but with my first grow I let them go to seed first, so I can hopefully have some more, viable seeds. Got many more than what I started with, and trying to germinate them now...

I'm wondering if seeds can have a sort of "timer", that they have to wait for like a season before being able to sprout? So I put the rest in the fridge to simulate "winter"... But then again, there is some new grow happening in the old container, so unless brachystachys sends out runners, the new grow must come from some of the seeds being dropped by the old plants. If it works then maybe its best to have one container for letting them grow old and produce seeds, and one for stressing and harvesting.

but this seems like a golden opportunity to contribute some research, stress the hell out of the younglings and do some TLC. if i had the space, i would be doing this.

Yeah, well...but if the DMT content is already significant it could be worth it. I mean, it is common knowledge, that pins and small mushrooms are usually more potent by weight and that it can make sense to harvest them earlier. If you have a ton of seeds and can sprout them within a couple of days, it could be a great thing to save time.

exactly my point. rather than wait all the time for it to grow you could have a viable source if you had enough seeds. somebody with access should give it a try for the sake of furthering our knowledge on the subject

And when you have no seeds left to sprout what do you do next? I say let them grow.. seems to be more sustainable. Something i have learned from plants is patience. If you want to commune with them, have patience. Otherwise we tend to transform everything in a industry assembly line. Something you could do is plan the seasons, depending where you live you can plant at least two seasons. You just need patience for 6 months or less, if you keep the schedule, you will have plenty of seeds and material to work.

About them spreading like wildfire.. don't worry about that.
