So I've been meaning to raise this question for the past few weeks now,
What happened was, when I was smoking some tan colored harmalas (via TAO of RUE) the pile, turned blackish while it was melting. Now that's not appealing to me at all and also frightens me. I used only calcium carbonate in the extraction (lye also scares me lol)

I'm going to take a guess and say this is caused from calcium carb contamination ( I did 4 water washes without using a ph meter ).

Can any of u verify this?

* I had done a rue extraction in the past and had ended up with very white fluffy product which burned clean as a whistle. It's kinda funny that I actually put a quartz crystal in the jar during the manske step (for experiment sake ) Crystals are known for aligning the molecules in water and giving it better structure. Ppl often drink crystal elixirs for many benefits.

just don't smoke the manske product, base it first

I wouldn't worry about it turning black. Any and all Harmalas i've extracted with Sodium Carbonate (baking soda heated in the oven), have always turned to goo upon smoking and coats the herbs underneath (Cannabis for me). So i don't think there's a problem with your extraction or what not, i just think the freebased Harmalas turn to goo upon heating.

Ya can actually smoke and vape harmalas but I'm not so sure that vaping would be cleaner. I think harmalas take quite a bit more heat to properly vape. I am using FB actually but is it possible to get effects from a salt?

Does anyone else have their product turn burnt black when smoking ( layer over herbs for me )?

How safe is it to consume a little bit of calcium carb ( PH+ from pool supplies ) weather eating or smoking it? I've checked the MSDS of the PH+ product and it contains no other ingredients and says there is no known effects or hazards from consuming or inhaling, but what about smoking?
