Which do you prefer when salting your NP?
is there a downside to gassing?

Would it be pointless to gas the NP and then do a small acidic aqueous pull or does gassing get all the goodies?

SWIM has yet to try gassing but will be doing so on his next project and thinks he is going to prefer this method of salting.

Gassing will give you salted alkaloids of a higher purity then if you were to an aqueous extract and/or evaporate.

It is however, definitely a good idea to do an aqueous extract to get the goodies that did not precipitate with the gassing.

Gassing is fairly simple. Just take the proper precautions, HCl gas can be nasty for your lungs eyes, and any iron in the vicinity. (it will rust, ive even seen stainless steel rust) Keep a few things in mind; You should dry your NP solvent and dry your HCl gas. This will make your gassing extremely efficient.

Don't worry though, even if your solvent or gas isnt dry, you can always collect the rest with aqueous extract.

I've read bits and pieces of drying the solvents I'll probably do more research tonight.
Have a simple way of doing so?

Yeah,
Epsom salts.

Heat them dry and they will suck water out of your solvent. Do a little research on it there are a few guides out there, pretty easy stuff.

word swim might try it out he was thinking of doing one with dry solvents and one without to see the difference.
