I couldnt find a topic on this album so i started one..

Any thoughts on Shpongle's newest album?

I downloaded the album over a month ago, and listened to it a bit here and there, but i wanted to listen to it and fully appreciate it on a trip, so i didnt play it out too much at all.

I had mixed expectations going into it, from previous listens i liked the album from a sober perspective but wanted to see if it really packed a psychedelic punch, so i played it with an open mind and wide ears,

And my conclusion is that it is a masterpiece! I thouroughly enjoyed each and every track and it was actually blowing my mind! (which is quite an accomplishment, because I have heard many a psychedelic mindmelting music and its quite hard to impress)

I also loved the "theme" of the album.... Museums of Consiousness, infinite possibilies and brings to mind notions of perspective and the nature of conciousness and reality.

For me it is all of the best elements of shpongle wrapped up into one.

Twords teh end of the Album (starting with further adventures) a different vibe gets going which is kind of dark, and reminds me of insanity, particularaly being insane in an urban/city dwelling. The epiphany of MRs kugla is an unexpectedly awesome track as well.

Favorite track was extra-celestial garden. Overall the album is not only masterfully produced, but also the songs have great impact and your taken on a journey through many levels.

I disagree with the opinions on that thread, and some of them basically review the album before it came out, already not liking it.....

Thanks for chiming in though Universecannon!

Anyways cheers and im suprised there arent more opinions about this.

I highly recommend really tripping to the CD, it is truly mindblowing.

IMO, out of all the Shpongle albums, this one suits a dissociative trip better than all their other works.I quite like it. Thumbs up
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Would be nice if shpongle could refrain from using talentless and annoying female vocals in their songs...at least in this album it's only the first song that has these females vocals, but that alone leaves a bad taste in the mouth for the rest of the album. The song named jellyfish and mountains something reminds me of spongebob squarepants...

It's an OK album overall, but not brilliant. Of course, that is just my opinion; mind you that this genre is also not to my style, but I acknowledge and enjoy shpongle's music due to their overall talent. Surely I can see why some people can resonate with their work and why others wont. Definitely useful melodies for tripping though.

I like this genre of music, but Shpongle doesn't impress me that much to be honest. I like some of his songs a lot while others I flat out can't stand. I think Shpongle would be cool to see live but sitting around listening to his albums I have tried and can't get into, especially this one. Although there are a few tracks that are cool, the album as a whole doesn't impress me.

Of course everyone has an opinion, but to say its just ok but not brilliant i just cant believe it. It may not be everyones cup of tea, but it is bonifide musical genious IMO

And i somewhat agree about the vocals i dont like Michelle adamson as a vocalist, but it didnt really retract from the album for me and i liked the vocals on extra celestial garden, and that was michelle adamson...

I think their best use of female vocals is the song once upon a sea of blissful awareness that voice is beautiful

well, opinions are just opinions and one man's garbage is another man's treasure Smile . If this album is really a musical genius, well, that's up to Time himself to decide.

I love the Musuem! such a great album. In my opinion this album has the best flow to it of any shpongle album yet. It is just so pleasing and mind expanding to listen to beginning to end. It also reminds me of Are You Shpongled more than any other album which I enjoyed because Are You Shpongled is still the first and favorite shpongle album for me.
In only the couple of months it's been out I have had some astonishing viewings of the museum.

Tickling the amygalda is my favorite track. The sound bowls, synth lfo's, tribal beat and ending piano solo establish its effect impeccably.

Second Favorite would be How the Jellyfish Jumped Up the Mountain. It's so oldschool shpongle and I Love the Vocals in it. Makes Michelle adams sound like a bird goddess!

Excellence.

Smile

I haven't listened to the last 2 songs, as when the album came out I had intended on listening to it for the first time while on mushrooms but the timing just wasn't right for various reasons so I went ahead and listened to most of it and saved the last 2 songs for the 'right' time.

That time still hasn't come. It bugged me at first but now it's been so long that I just cherish the fact that at some point, it's going to be a delicious little candy that I unwrap after months of saving. Cool

This is probably my favorite Shpongle album next to Tales of the Inexpressible. Maybe its just because I have had some amazing journeys with these two albums and have yet to try with the other albums.

Their other albums are good too, but the vibes that this and Tales gives off are just so nice to trip too.
Everything published by Gone-and-Back are the mad rantings and ravings of a mind who yearns to be free and thinks he knows what he is talking about. However, these are just delusions made to feel that freedom, because that freedom will never come. Any experiments done are purely figments of the imagination, and are falsified to the highest degree. Nothing should be taken seriously from a crazy mans mind.

I agree Jellyfox, it reminded me very much of shpongle 1 and had the same impact for me and that is why i liked it so much.

I think the album has been generally well recieved so far basing on the reviews I have read. It must be hard to be a musician like posford, because people place such high expectations on your music and everyone is looking for something different, so it is hard to please everybody.

Thanks for sharing guys
