I was wondering if you have tried a GVG or other vaporiser? Even though smoking off of foil may work well for you, it may not be "the best way to smoke DMT", as you put it.

best way is in a vaporizer, the machine, a good weed pipe or a custom made / filled e-cig

Aluminum is good for you. It is the most abundant metal on earth, therefore it is embedded in our ecosystem. Smoking aluminum makes our lungs stronger. Hitting aluminum, and then smoking the smoke going wild all over the air through a straw, is the best most efficient way of smoking DMT.

I've sorted these based on ease of use, efficiency and performance (not cost). It is just my opinion with little experience.

1) High quality adjustable convection desktop vape. (VapeXhale vapes, or 7th floor at cheaper side)
-These when dialed right will make the smoothest and biggest possible hits guaranteed.
-With most of them, you don't have to control the flame, there is no flame at all. Which is much safer and more consistent in temperature.
-Some high-quality vapes will keep the right temperature no matter how you hit them. Combined with the point above, this makes ultimately consistent temperature - producing the densest vapors yet incapable of slightest burning. VapeXhale vapes have this ability together with all-glass air-path and efficient bowl design. Which makes them IMO the best choice money can buy. It is far from cheap though, it is at least 500$.
-They need electric outlet. Or to power them from car with some adapter.

2) GVG
-Less consistent, therefore needs much more skill to do it right. But if one can handle it well, it can work almost as good as a 500$ vape from the above category.
-There is need for a flame and inhale speed affects temp as well.
-It is excelent choice if you want to buy the cheapest option that can perfrom great.
-It is also excellent choice if you want to vape outside.

3) The machine
-It is basically inverted GVG (used like the first category), can take more skill to operate right, but is even cheaper than GVG as it is home-made at neglible cost.

4) Other methods

?) Custom e-liquid e-cig
-I've heard a lot of praising about this method and I think it could work. I am skeptical about temperature as its fixed and also about the efficiency.

I have experience only with 1) and 3), so I won't sort the e-cig method in there. I assume GVG is better than the machine, but nobody will convice me its performs universally better than the desktop category.

In any case... What's the problem with smoking from foil? The warning in the OP seems a bit excessive and unsupported.

I've never seen a problem with actually burning the foil. As long as you're not actually burning the foil and inhaling it I wouldn't think there should be a problem. A normal lighter should not do this.

I think it is possible to vape DMT of tin foil, it is just a very poor method to choose and there are much better ways that are as cheap.
I imagine it being very similar to light-bulb vaping.
Light-bulb is a very poor vape - very imprecise conduction heating (easy to burn, low performance, trouble getting it all vaped fast enough).
Tin foil would be even worse as the foil temperature will certainly fluctuate much more than a light bulb glass (thinner and more conductive). Also there are more losses as vapors are not as well enclosed. Plus smoking out of tin foil is probably harmful in longterm. Aluminium is a poison with enough exposure. Therefore it's usage in cooking etc is decreasing. A fire is too hot and could release some fumes from aluminium, but it is safe in electric vapes as aluminium is inert at these temps.

If one can't get a GVG or better, then i think making the machine would be the best approach instead of trying tinfoil.

I din't say its safe. I just don't think smoking out of tinfoil ONCE would seriously damage you. Of course I recommend not trying smoking of tin-foil at all in any form. And I would never do it as well. I am actually a "lung-health freak", a true vaporist. I only vape through a high quality all glass vape and don't smoke anything.

I have smoked off of foil with varying degrees of success. But, in my limited experience, i would not say that it was the best way to smoke DMT.
