I have read in a book that Chelidonium majus, plant in the poppy family has the potential to be a potent alternative to P.Somniferum.
It even says that every alkaloid found in P.Somniferum as an counterpart in C.majus.
So for example the counterpart for Morphine is supposed to be Chelidonine.
The book says it would be easy to make a substitute to Morphine using this plant.
I don't know how truthful this is but I got interested in this and searched some and found a research paper about this who said that Chelidonine is active but higher doses are needed.
However is also said that the eters and esters of Chelidonine has very potent pain reliving properties in small doses.
This plant Chelidonium majus, grows like a weed here everywhere so maybe i can do some experimentation about this.
It produces an orange latex when cut and supposedly the whole plant contains alkaloids.
Anyone heard of this or tried use this plant in some way?
I will search more about this and maybe do a small scale experiment.

Growing active and sacred plants and mushrooms is fun.
Chemistry and technology is fun.
Anger, violence and restricting rules are NO fun...

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

What are you looking for with this plant, exactly? Are you in pain?

Please be careful, seems some of the alkaloids might be toxic.. I'd advice against using this.

I know about the various alkaloids.
A isolation of the Chelidonine would be necessary.
But if what i read is true, it´s not very toxic and is used very much for various treatments.
In some countries its used against cancer, but it has a lot of other uses in medicine.
I was just curious if one could use the analgesic properties of Chelidonine.
And i have much problems with pain in my back.
I'm currently reading what i can find about it but almost all research done is about the other properties of the alkaloids of this plant.
I thought it might be worth a try.

i recommend this for cancer patients

you can make a tea with it:

boil the water

add 2-3 fresh stems (roughly 10cm each) on 0,2 liters

let it rest for 10 minutes or so

0,2L is one serving

dont drink more then 0,8 liters of it per day

for the backpain it is better to find a longer lasting solution instead of permanent painkillers
blessed be all forms of intelligence

Well, i know painkillers are not the solution to my back problems but i have tried so many things now i don't really know what to do.
The only solution that might work that i have found is to exercise/train very much.
However i am not the training type and i really hate it.
I am not lazy but all kind of physical training i hate.
I love to bicycle and walk in the nature very much and at autumns i really enjoy go to the Forrest and pick mushrooms for many hours.
The back pain seems to get a little better when i do this.
Thai massage also seem to help some.

The Chelidonium majus idea came up as they grow all over here and i read this book saying they could make a potent painkiller substance.
Its more of a fun thing to try now when im going to start extracting stuff from other plants.
One should also be very careful with analgesic substances that are unfamiliar.
If it turns out to be potent it might be very addictive or harmful in other ways.

What you need is to go to a physical therapist or similar who can check your body esp hips for imbalances and misfiring muscles.

Most lower back issues usually comes from your hip and glute muscles not working and that puts alot of stress on the passive tissue around the lower back, in time this leads to disc injuries, joint degeneration etc.

Ive been rehabing a very serious lower back injury for many years now, ive got it from sports and fixed it in the past but sometimes it flares up again.

Becoming physical and changing your lifestyle is the only way to cure your pain, you just gotta find exersize which is fun etc.

Please pm me if you have any questions regarding back issues.

Chelidonine has multiple effects with several enzyme systems and theres some evidence of its use in reversing multi-drug resistance in chemotherapy for several types of cancer; these effects would make me wary of using it for its analgesic properites which are apparently quite modest in terms of dosages required to exert a clinically apparent effect.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

I know moving my body more helps with my back pain but i don't like pure training.
If i can do something funny as pick mushrooms in the forest or just go exploring in nature i love to do it.
But what about when this is impossible, in winters for example.
I hope i can find a viable solution for this.
Sometimes i almost cant get out of the bed in the mornings, it take me 15 to 20 minutes to get me standing up.
I have recently bought a new bed that i can control so i sleep in a almost sitting up position.
This helps a lot for some reason and my back pain is little better right now.
I don't know how healthy it is to sleep in a sitting up position but i feel whole lot better.

Regarding the Chelidonine it is too weak by itself.
But i have read that the esters of it have much stronger analgesic effects.
I might try researching some more about it.
