First of all, I wanted to thank you all for putting this awesome site together. I've gone through with about 5 or 8 very successful STB extractions using MHRB in the past (successful to the point that when I shared some with a few cool old hippies at a music festival, they told me it was the best/smoothest DMT they'd ever come across) thanks to all the great information available on this forum.
On to the question! I have a small "stockpile" of the root bark I purchased before it basically became impossible to find, and it's been sitting around for about a year now. Each pound is individually double vacuum sealed. I haven't done an extraction for about a year now too; I extracted a couple of pounds when I first got it, and after handing out a bunch of spice to friends and some strangers, I now have depleted my reserve and figured it was time to extract some more. I did everything the same as I always used to: mix about 1 pound of lye for about 3/4 of a gallon of water, add in 1 lb of powdered MHRB, then naptha on top. Wait a few days while agitating gently, siphon off the naptha and freeze precip.
However, for the first time ever, on my first pull attempt, almost NOTHING precipitated out. The final result after 24 hours in a COLD freezer was slightly cloudy naptha - the way it usually looks after only an hour in the cold. So my question is what could have gone wrong? The only difference I noticed was that lye/bark solution was much thinner than usual. Sometimes it would be a sludgy mess in the past, sometimes a good bit thinner, but this time it seems to be almost like regular water, breaking an awful emulsion in less than 5 or 10 minutes. Any ideas/recommendations? Thanks!
