Hi all.

my friend who lives in uk and doesn't have internet access wants to get some ethanol, for Hippie Salad Oil Tek. and he just can't find any, and ordering online is not a way to go.. any thoughts where my friend can find some?

on the other hand, is there a way how to substitute high % ethanol with vodka? vodka is ethanol with water... maybe there's a trick to get rid of most water and this way have high % ethanol?
or maybe my friend could just use straight vodka in the tek?

what are your thoughts?

You can get 99% alcohol (ethanol) from polish shops. Most of the Polish food shops I have gone into have bottles just called "Spirits", where most are almost pure ethanol and maybe a splash of water. My old area had two shops selling different brands of the stuff. It is kinda pricey though.

Look around... you'll find it. You can get it amazingly easy and quickly through a few online vendors. Just google it and you'l find it quite easily.

You can distill your own, if you want to. Have a look at the Bokakob design, it's pretty simple and effective. You get up to 95% and it's much cheaper than buying ethanol. Plus, it's not denatured, so you can make your own Absinth (or herb tinctures) with it too. It's great fun!

I'm sure there's solvent grade, denatured ethanol available... UK isn't that oppressive are they? America's starting to be.

I don't know, to be honest, if there is drinkable high percentage ethanol available in the UK. I have to check out what DoingKermit mentioned about the stuff in the Polish shops. Maybe also the pharmacy would be a place to contact.

Swim went to pharmacies, and they don't have it. and when asked, they give you an expression like you were asking for tnt or uranium or smth..

what if Swim use vodka in Hippie salad tek instead of high grade ethanol, wouldn't it work as well?
