Lately my interest has been focused on the Amanita Muscaria. I have been going back and listening to some Terence Mckenna lectures, mostly to find some guidance on the use of Magic Mushrooms. I have very little experience with mushrooms, other than eating and enjoying mushrooms from the store, or fresh from the woods. But using them for their psychoactive properties has only occurred a few times in my life. Amanita though seems to be different. I don't live in a place where they would ever grow. So I have been forced to internet research to try and discover something. I have been reading bits and pieces of the book "Herb of Immortality" by Donald E. Teeter.
See this is where I get to the part of why I am even posting about all this stuff. I have always heard stuff about Amanita Muscaria being used as a shamanic tool. Mostly as Soma. Reusing the ibotanic acid that the body doesn't ingest and is excreted in the persons urine. I was reading about this and it seemed interesting, I was even half planning on trying it. But drinking my pee didn't sound to nice.
Teeter started to look into ways that the ancients would preserve and use the Amanita. He says they refer to it as the Immortal Herb because water will rehydrate the mushroom after it has been dried. He also talk about making Amanita Bread and Wine. In his book, he talks a lot about how these are the "Sacraments". I am not very interested in this though.
I am wanting to look more into making the Wine. He says he uses grape juice. Now I have been looking around on forums and such and reading stuff about the amanita. But all the information seems really scattered and a lot of different opinions.
My main purpose of this is to ask if anyone has more information on this? Or knows more about this. I am planning to try and find some amanita muscaria and try to make this Wine, by using the directions given by Mr. Teeter.
I am just looking to create an open thread kind of thing. If anyone is interested in looking into this with me and try to replicate this that would be great! Like I said, I am trying to get some amanitas and try this as soon as possible.
I also don't want to rush into this. If you guys think that this is a useless venture, please tell me!
http://www.ambrosiasocie...es/herbofimmortality.pdf - this is Teeters book. Mostly what I have been looking at.
Well I think I am going to stop ranting. Hopefully I will find some amanita soon and get back to you guys. And if anyone wants to share their experience with Amania Muscaria feel free!
Thanks for reading all of this! Good times to everyone.
Walter
