Thank you for introducing yourself and wanting to become a member of this site. Perhaps you could elaborate a bit on your experiences and ideas about psychedelics (dmt and others). What do you make of them? In what context do you use them or intend to use them?
Do you ever use them in any context related to your mystical path (thelema)? I am very interested in hearing reports about this kind of thing. I've always felt that psychedelics could be used in western mysticism just as much as they are used in the jungle mysticism. Unfortunately there is very little info to be found on this.
Be well and enjoy your journeys.
Thank
you!
Like many, my first experiences were with marijuana. I smoked it nearly everyday throughout my teenage years in addition to several encounters with Psilocybin, it was generally positive. Though I became increasingly depressed due to other issues in my life at the time, I began abusing anything and everything I could get my hands on. Yet, everytime I would turn to what one would call an "entheogen", it wouldn't numb my senses like alcohol and opiates would. Even marijuana wasn't "enjoyable" anymore since when I smoked it, it wouldn't allow me to forget my problems, but instead would amplify my consciousness of them- turning it into an uncomfortable experience. I eventually quit using marijuana for the most part and began drinking more and more often, something I'm still struggling with in some ways.
I had dropped out of high school, gotten kicked out of my mothers home and was technically homeless for a period of time. I eventually met my girlfriend, who I've been with since- her brother and I started talking about psychadelics, which he'd never experienced before but told me about this substance called Dimethyltryptamine. I was hooked, picked up Rick Strassmans book "The Spirit Molecule" and set out on a quest to find this substance. Along the way, my library expanded into more diverse studies such as psychology and myth, magic and mysticism, the works of Terence Mckenna and many others. Eventually, I got ahold of some DMT from a tattoo artist that was doing an Alex Grey piece on my girlfriend's brother. Waterpipe + Homegrown Rosemary + DMT = Full blown contact with transdimensional entities and an encounter with what Philip K. Dick might have called: "Living Information."
This basically set the precedent for what my life has been up until now, I started taking my life, my mind and my spirit seriously. I got off "the streets", as it were, got into school, quite abusing those less-helpful substances (for the most part) and began practicing a spiritual system that incorporates the expansion of the mind in every dimension, throughout all aspects of my life.
Using psychadelics is a ritual in itself to me, but I have not utilized them outside their own context yet. Meaning I haven't thrown them in as an element to one of my already established practices, but I do plan to.
