I'm curious about something. See, last week I boiled up a rue tea (with vinegar) and A. confusa tea, separately. I put them in the fridge for the night, and when I went to check on them the next morning, I noticed that a yellow film had precipitated onto the sides and bottom of my rue container. A few days later, after I had drank my rue, the film was still in the container. Suspecting this film might be harmalas, I waited for it to dry. After it had dried out, I scraped it up and put it in my pipe with some damiana.

The effects were light, but definitely noticeable. It felt something like a slight alcohol buzz and slight weed buzz combined, but different from either of the two. Seeing that this came from rue and had effects, I felt pretty safe in assuming it was harmalas.

Considering my rue tea worked as intended, I know all of the harmalas didn't precipitate out. But seeing as some did, I assume there must be a way to get it all to precipitate out. I'm stumped though. I only have some limited knowledge of chemistry, and to be honest I'm quite clueless when it comes to solubility. Does anybody know what happened here? And if so, is there a way to get all of the harmalas to precipitate like this?

Oh, and I have no scale. This was from 1.5 tsp of rue boiled in probably relatively acidic water. (I used way more vinegar than was necessary.)

Hi Legit. I'm not sure what the film was that you noticed as I've always brewed/drank and washed out the cup.

Regarding the rue boil though, did you crush/grind the seeds? Not crushing will still work but I would boil longer and it may still not be as strong. I have a mortar I use. I either soak the seeds in water overnight first or boil 1x30 min then mashem in the mortar. Those seeds are HARD without getting em softened first. Others use spice grinder / coffee grinder.

Did you drink the acacia tea? Trip report?

Oh, my seeds were whole, but I boiled them for 90 minutes. I tasted them afterwards and they had no bitter taste. Just in case, I added them to my Acacia boil. I would have crushed them, but have nothing to crush them with.

And yes, I did drink the Acacia tea and had a very positive 6 hour trip. I'm in the process of modifying my personal trip report so that it'll be suitable for public viewing. Smile

BTW friken, it was mostly you who inspired me to use aya as my first ever psychedelic. Thanks for that. Thumbs up
