Hey all in the Nexus!

The forum here is awesome and so abundant with knowledge and positive attitude I finally collected the courage to join and am so glad I have!

My scenario is something like this:

This will be my first extract attempt (acacia confusa root bark), and I've looked over both thick light's and Kermit's teks which seem to have resulted in the most consistent results from Nexian to Nexian. I have procured all the materials and only need a few more equipment items (lye safe container, lye safe baster for pulls). I plan to use/create a tek using these materials-

ACRB (currently 50g, more on the way)
VMP Naphtha
100% NaOh
White Distilled Vinegar (diluted to 5% acidity)

Two questions I have,
1) should I consider attempting a small scale (50g) extraction to improve my knowledge and gain first hand experience before say trying a 500g (potentially very high yield) run?
2) thick light prepped their bark by freezing (breaking down cell walls and helping release elements is
my guess), but the bark I have is dryer than dust lol. Overnight in a glass jar only resulted in a cold glass jar. Suggestions?

I'm no expert, but I would think that thicklight's tek would work well with 50 g acrb, scaled down, of course. I lysed the bark by soaking it in the same vinegar/water ration that I would later boil it in, I think that's what is meant in that step.
If you have fine powder though it probably isn't all that necc. since it serves to break the cell walls and I think he had used shredded bark (as did I)
I wasn't able to produce x-tals with this tek that didn't melt, but did yield close to 2% of a NMT, N,N DMT mixture goo and it dries to a fairly workable putty, and I personally like NMT even if its less visual.

Thanks for your input! I will most definitely keep track of my progress and post my findings/results.
I am also using shredded bark, I shredded it even more by putting it in a small jar and snipped away at it with some tin snips. A lot of powder has accumulated in the bottom from shaking and whatnot.

I read one post from a Nexian who used 50g and he showed poor results, but with each person adapting their teks it can be difficult to determine what is causing what.
