I love mushrooms, but I usually get lethargic on them. I enjoy playing guitar on psychedelics. Sometimes the mushrooms make me drowsy where I just sit around and do not feel like playing. I'm not a high energy person anyways.

Since I have been forced to stop smoking cannabis sativa due to legal reasons, I'm trying to find a great creative catalyst for my music. I enjoyed the increase in music appreciation and creative response while on THC. Mushrooms and other entheogens do the same; but due to the lethargy experienced on mushrooms, I don't feel like getting up and playing. I'm more prone to wanting to sit down during the peak of the experience.

I'm wondering if there is anyway to counteract this lethargy and make a mushroom trip more energetic. Whether it be to take yohimbe or other stimulating herbs or some kind of extraction tek. I'm just curious what anyone would recommend?

ive been at this for a long time, Im old, and Ive had very much your experience with mushrooms.

of course stimulants help some, but they color the psychadelic experience of shrooms in a way that I dont like.

Last year I added in a moderate dose of glucocorticosteroids, I used methylprednisolone. thats the little pill in a medrol dosepak that the doc gives you for poison ivy or sinus infections, like a decadron shot.

I felt like a million dollars while tripping, and whenever I use mushrooms now I take either 6-8 mg of dexamethasone, or 12-16 mg of methylprednisolone. It give you super powers against the lethargy, yawning, and blahs. It can make you have some insomnia at the end whereas shrooms otherwise dont keep me up much, so use the lower end of the dose if you take it late in the day, and methylprednisolone is shorter acting in this regard than dexamethasone.

these are prescription meds, but not controlled, you can get them online pharmacies or perhaps asking a doctor for some they are usually liberal with small amounts for acute allergies like hay fever, or even upper respiratory infections.

I should of specified, but I don't take any pharmacueticals of anykind, not even over the counter products. It is part of my walk of life, not putting down anyone who does of course, its just my lifestyle.Very happy

Im trying to find a natural way and it will probably take some experimenting on my part.

I would say that is just the way mushrooms are. I once added caffeeine in the mix and it really did not went that well. Some people like chocolate, and cacao beans seem to be a rather traditional admixture. I have not tried it myself, but they give energy and might work well with mushrooms. I would not try to force anything and just let mushrooms be mushrooms though.

What about LSD or Mescaline for more "active" experiences?

I live in a rural town that nobody's heard of. What people like around here is Meth, coke, pill, and weed. Nothing else exist here! I've looked for LSD for years, to no prevail. I would really enjoy trying it , its one of the only major psychedelics I haven't tried!

I was thinking that mushrooms nature is just that experience and thus changing it would be a different experience.

I do need to look into mescaline a little more I've yet to try Peruvian torch cacti. I've read its more energetic! Bridgesii floors me, in a good way.

taking mushrooms outside always energizes me.

at first i thought it was the sunlight, but even at night i feel energized by nature.

I agree with obliguhl's suggestion, try shroomies with some mesc. That will definitly liven you up as pure clean mesc has stimulant/euphoric properties (of course in addition to its psychedelic effects).

I don't particularly know the specifics of shrooms as I haven't worked nearly enough with them as I'd like but I can point you in a few directions.

A little Cacao will energise the hell out of you and it will probably do quite a good deal with the lethargy. Cacao is known as the 'food of the gods' for a reason!


Then also, I play guitar on Harmala alkaloids. When I don't have harmalas, I'm so and so. When I have harmala rushing through my veins, I become a machine; I can see every note and my fingers know where to go; it's like the bridge between mind=>hands=>sound produced by guitar dissolves and it's pure mind => sound.

So perhaps smoke a little harmala and see what happens. I find they are as stimulating as amphetamine if you dose them correctly and have the correct mindset to work with them. A FOAF says that harmala + chaliponga makes for an incredible guitar playing experience.

Embracethevoid what dosage of harmalas do you use? ? I have some crude rue manske extract and Id like to hear your dosage!

I enjoy laying in bed on psychedelics its extremely relaxing! Especially on Ayahuasca!

I have been wanting to experiment with cacao nibs so I might get me a couple ounces!

I usually grind mine into a coffee or tea blend and carry it around with me in a flask when I am at festivals and need to sustain energy throughout the experience. I find that taking very small sips over the course of the day helps keep you sharp, awake, energized, and enthused. I wouldn't suggest doing anything that you don't have the natural energy for while undergoing larger doses.

Yes, i can highly recommend you to try it. But try them on their own first, so you can judge their psychoactive effects which can be pronounced. It highly depends on the brand of cacao though. Some are really low in alkaloid content, some are more speedy, some more euphoric. Keiths cacao (ceremonialcacao.blogspot.com) def. works fine, but minimum order is 4 pounds and it ships from guatemala. It's a very good ressource to learn more about cacao.

I've gone through several pounds now and i wouldn't have if these seeds wouldn't be beneficial to me. Mood lifting and energizing i would say.

Also keep in mind, that cacao is a mild maoi if you decide to dose mushrooms along.

Well I picked a half pound of cocoa nibs today . I'm going to try them out on their own and see how it is.

I have to wait till my next grow comes in before I can try the mushroom combination!

its interesting to hear you say that you lack energy on mushrooms... i find mushrooms fill me with energy and I enjoy getting out and doing stuff on them.

I've had some energetic experiences but overall its as I described.

I've also wondered if a different species of mushroom would differ in effects. I have only had cubensis and my first time psilocybe fimetaria. I've thought about growing some paneolus cyanescens.

I've found tea to be more energetic than the whole mushroom. Try brewing some and see if it affects you differently.

Honestly I have had in the past similar experiences and felt that it was the mushroom telling me to eat better and exercise more. Get blood flow and oxygen to the brain is important as well as eating fruits and greens.

realms i too get the yawns and become withdrawn a bit on shrooms. i love the effect but i don't care for the withdrawl from activities that seems to happen. THen i discovered san pedro and peruvian torch. I really love being on a smaller dose of peruvian torch and then going out, or even doing things around the house. I too play guitar, paint and many other activities and the mesceline seems to be the perfect companion to both socializing and being creative. I also have added a small amount of mushrooms on top of the cactus but i have to be careful because it's easy to over do it and be back into mushroom catatonia for me.

I have also had some really lazy trips, and I have noticed that it is a reflection of my current health and fitness. Back when I played lacrosse I could trip and run around all day. We would smoke tons of weed and I didnt even notice it, just energy the whole trip. Then like a year or two ago I was getting very slow, dark trips making me tired with no euphoria. I had been lazy, not working out, eating bad and smoking a lot of weed. This caused my trips to be that way and I am glad that the bad shrooms trips really teach you about yourself.

This year has been different already, I started working out again and my last trip a week ago was filled with energy that I thought was gone. It wasnt the same as my energy filled trips of the past but I know Im getting there because during the trip I got a strange sense that I was headed in the right direction health wise and I felt very comforted by that.

If you are getting tired and have a lack of creativity while shrooming, I believe it can be fixed directly with proper eating, exercise, and sleep. Shrooms really show you how your mind and body are doing as a team, it is important to monitor that when doing any drug so that you can keep yourself tripping for years to come.
My eyes are soon to be open! Cant wait!

Honestly, any time I have done mushrooms, I get the same feeling of wanting to just lay there. If I stay in my house while on them, it becomes inevitable that I am going to lay there and not do much.

However, I found that if I make some potent tea and go for a walk while drinking it all, or drink half and go for a walk, finishing the other half after the first half kicks in, it makes it much easier to stay alert and continue moving around. It seems that however I start off the experience is how its going to stay for me.

So for me, I just make some tea and dont stop walking Pleased As long as I keep moving and keep myself hydrated, I dont get lethargic. If I find a bench to sit down on though, you better bet I am locked there for a good thirty minutes or more.
