I've always been interested in Psychedelics, but I never really had the opportunity to try them. I never ran with a tripping crowd when I was young, and by the time I was older I found myself in countries with drug laws that made acquiring substances to risky to be worth it.

After moving back to my home country and it's ubiquitous access to weed -- the one illicit drug that I had enjoyed when younger, aside from a single identity killing Salvia trip -- something very strange happened. I awoke in he middle of the night and found that I couldn't move. While sleep paralysis was nothing new, I found that I was far more willing to relax into the experience while stoned. Instead of fighting the mysterious and malicious disembodied entity that always appeared during these hallucinatory episodes, I thought, "Whatever, do your worst."

I was rewarded with the most amazing sensations of peace, combined with an ecstatic feeling throughout my body and an incredibly INTENSE vibration in my head. It faded slowly and I drifted back to sleep. Over the next week my thoughts kept returning to the episode and its similarity to some DMT experiences that I had read about years earlier. I had to find out more, and eventually found myself reading everything I could about Psychedelics but DMT in particular.

Not wanting to jump off in the deep end too soon, I've built up my experiences slowly over the past few months trying substances that are generally considered to be more gentle than DMT, like Mescaline and LSA, at lower doses to ensure that I really do like such experiences.

After some time of experimenting I think I'm ready to take the plunge. Simply reading about these substances has led me to meditation which I find has it's own rewards beyond peace of mind and a mild drug free trip (after a good 30 minute sit I find that the walls breathe and music is incredibly enhanced. It also strengthens my hypnagogia, last night I had another episode with the same vibrations and the most intense and rapidly shifting form constants I can imagine) I want to experience what DMT has to offer.

yeah, sleep paralysis is weird indeed! That's great you can just relax into it

i also go into hypnagogic states frequently. i find them very similar to melatonin and harmalas

Welcome to the Nexus. I very much enjoyed reading your Introductory Essay. You sound like you will fit in well here.

Most everyone here will applaud and appreciate your stance to research and to take your time. It just makes sense to so many of us.

You may want to grow into growing mushrooms and/or ayahuasca brews. Finding the right kind of acacia seems to still be challenging to cutting edge extractors. And our primary plant, MHRB, can no longer be sourced. I trust that the evolution/revolution going on here will remedy these issues relatively quickly. Stay tuned into the plant and other research areas as well as areas on acacia . . .

I'm actually getting ready for an Acacia Confusa brew, but I'm having trouble figuring out the dosage. Some recommend 6-8g as a starting does, others 10, and still others 15 or even 20.
