I had a very difficult mescaline experience this week, and it was unpleasant in a way that I had not expected from the San Pedro cactus. I'm completely fine, but I'm looking for answers as to what might've happened and why. I'm considering mild acidosis as a possibility, although I am not certain. I used 10% phosphoric acid in the brew, and I was careful about how much I put in, but maybe I just used a little more than I should have? I would describe the trip as a difficult one, with dysphoria and complete confusion. I was also reasonably fatigued, and had the urge to sleep although I was never able to. I also had to urinate very frequently. There was also a general feeling of discomfort in my stomach that lasted throughout the whole experience, whereas I'm normally used to initial nausea that subsides as the trip gets underway. I have taken a higher dose of mescaline in the past, and had a very different experience. My friend and I were looking forward to having conversation and being active, but we were unable to have any kind of coherent thoughts, and I was used to being more lucid on mescaline.

It's hard to say without the required bloodwork, it is possible but I'd think any acidosis from such an extract would be quite mild.
The PH of the extract most likely was quite acidic, but ingestion of acids doesn't always equate to acidosis symptoms in blood.

Do you have any history of kidney problems, stones etc ?

In that state (mecsaline affected) respiratory rates can really plummet leading to respiratory acidosis so maybe it was a mild case.

If it happens again it might be wise to lay off the mescaline for a while.

Edit : I have no formal medical training so my post is not intended to be taken as medical advice, I was just giving an opinion.

Well thanks for the reply. I'm just trying to reach an understanding of what happened and why it didn't feel quite like mescaline has in past experiences.
