Hello my friends!

I've done a bit of research but have not really found too many cases of increased sensitivity in senses after an intake of DMT. I've heard and experienced times where I randomly taste or smell DMT, but what I will describe is a bit different.

Some background. I shattered my nose and had it reconstructed when I was about 17 years of age. Shortly after I lost my sense of smell completely and along with it, my taste. This lasted about two years or so and one day it came back without warning (I know it's silly but it was very much like Dewey Cox, for those who know what I mean). It seemed rather strong at first, but in a short time it subsided. I could smell and taste again, but lightly.

I've lived another 18 years with a weak sense of smell, except after the first time I smoked DMT. Soon after, almost immediately after my come down, my sense of smell became acute. I could smell EVERYTHING and it is wonderful! I could pick out smells and tastes that I had trouble with before. I can equate this to watching Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory in black and white and switching to color. The snozzberries really do taste like snozzberries!

This effect lasts for about a month and then my senses dull slowly. I have the same effect with Ayahuasca. I even have the same effect with the slightest of DMT intakes.

I wonder if there are any more of you out there that have had similar experiences, perhaps other senses? Thank you for taking the time to read this!

I can smell my own body odor pretty easily after smoking DMT. I become very attuned to some of the staler scents in my room (I'm a young messy male, what can I say Laughing )

On LSD, I consistently hallucinate some made-up taste like metallic cotton candy or something like that. It's pretty annoying. I'm pretty sure it's not really there, or if it is, perhaps it's the taste of my mouth....probably not.

Lastly for hearing, I think beyond a shadow of a doubt it increases my hearing. I can become quite aware of chatter and sounds from afar and behind walls with increased clarity. The respatialization of the sound into layers helps to unclutter a jumble of mumbled sound.

For me being under the influence of hallucinogens in general means my sense of taste, hearing, smell, touch and sight are enhanced significantly. Things taste much better on the come down. I also have this after the consumption of cannabis, which is slightly troublesome as I enjoy the cannabis because of those effects incredibly much.

However, the effects for me last only as long as the trip and then subside over the course of a few hours. Perhaps it helps your body tune in with your sense more easily. Interesting though.

Does it happen with harmalas or other psychedelics or just DMT?

This really only happens only with DMT and it lasts for weeks rather than minutes or hours. I am assuming perhaps limbic system is awakened and then dimmed down after a bit.
